20% Maltodextrin
10% Complete Milk Dairy Isolate

Comes out to about 18g/12g carb/protein per scoop. Then we got separate flavor powders -- Premium Chocolate Banana and Premium Orange Creamsicle.

Both have worked out awesome. Just 1/2 TSP of the flavoring into one or two scoops of the custom mix and it tastes great, especially when we use 1% milk. Dissolves well in a basic shaker cup.
so what do you think it was that made it taste bad? The bcaas?

good to hear you like the new stuff!

Impossible to know for sure, but my guess as to why this order tastes a lot better

-- No BCAAs or glutamine this time
-- More dextrose
-- WPI Colf-filtration instead of WPC
-- All unflavored, leaving us to flavor each serving as much as we want and change it up

We're in good shape now; this stuff is tasty.

I always order my carbs and protein separate from truprotein. Something else you might want to try if you're having problems with flavor. Makes it easy to add more 'sweetness'.

just a heads up guys:

from TP message board:

Quote:
Drum roll.. The new flavors landed this afternoon, I will be launching them tomorrow with sweet ass names, just waiting for Dougs approval and we will get them on the site! Now, to break each of your hearts, the Cookies N Cream is still another week out at least, and Doug and Dante have decided to change the flavor to Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and will be launching a separate Cookies N Cream in another couple of weeks that will taste more like Oreos along with.. a Chocolate Peanut Butter!
i'm pretty psyched! I can't wait for the cookies and cream and chocolate chip cookie dough. The cookie dough sounds really really delicious. I'm gonna try and get some as soon as it comes out.

Just thought i'd let you guys know. I'm getting tired of the same flavors, so i figured some people are in the same boat.

looks like they put up some new flavors:

peaches and cream
double chocolate mint
luscious peach
concord grape juice
watermelon wave
wild berry blast

they sound good! The other flavors are supposed to be released in a week-week and a half or so, i guess

Damn, getting high tech. I guess I'm just old fashioned with regular WPI and crystal light lol.

I bought the sample pack of the premium flavors- they all taste like butt.

I made the mistake of buying 5lbs of whey with the vanilla (the more expensive vanilla) flavoring. It, too, tastes like butt. It doesn't even taste like vanilla...

I wont be buying from them again....

that's too bad.

you said in one of your other posts you add vanilla protein to your oats, and it gave it a "nice vanilla-y flavor." Which kind of protein did you use that you liked it? What was the kind of protein you used that you didn't like.

I'm pretty surprised b/c you're the first one i've heard who's tried the premium flavors and didn't like them.

I guess things aren't for everyone though. to each their own.

Get regular WPI, unflavored, unsweetened. Add it to sugar free Kool Aid, Crystal Light, etc. You can cook with it as well.

I was using the BSN Syntha-6. I actually went to the Trueprotien because the Syntha-6 was high in cals and fat (hard to fit that 9 grams into my macros) and so many people seemed pleased with it. I also liked the idea of being able to order by weight and not having to buy the god awful jug every time.

The first few times I used the sample packs I was traveling, and thought it might have just been a fluke, but the more of them I have tried the more I find it holds true that I just don't think any of them are good. In fact, I have almost a whole box of samples at this point- I'd be happy to give them away!

I almost added more vanilla extract to my oats yesterday AM.... but I couldn't open the stupid bottle- so that nixed that!

is syntha-6 the only stuff you've used? I ask because if you're basing your taste on that, then it'll be different than TP and any other whey for that matter. Stuff like syntha and muscle milk have a good amount of fat in them, so the taste is a lot better than just a WPI or concentrate.

i guess if it's simply the flavors, then you just don't like them and it's a matter of taste.

No I've used several others as well- including the GNC store brand in flavored and unflavored. In the past I have actually shied away from flavored stuff, because I don't like chocolate and it seems so many are chocolate or chocolate-ish (like cookies and cream) flavors. The "fruit" flavors taste really fake to me as well.

I just don't like the flavors- and it seems to take a lot more water in the oatmeal to mix smoothly than other brands I have used.

It's not a big deal- I'm used to being the "oddball".

So I just have a few questions about trueprotein that I couldn't seem to find on their site. Does the flavor change the nutrition facts from those listed on the site? In other words, are the nutrition facts listed for unflavored, unsweetened protein, and would adding flavor change that?
Also, the premium flavor sample packs come in 50g servings, but a serving of the protein is 30g, correct? It seems like I would be wasting an awful lot of protein by sticking to the serving size, 20g per sample that isn't enough to make a new full serving but is too much to put in a one serving shake.

It doesn't change the nutrition. Whether you choose a natural flavor, or other artificial ones, there are no calories in these.

I believe a 70cc scoop of protein is somewhere in the range of 25-27, depending on what source from them. I think the sample packs are basically 2 70cc scoops, but i'm not too sure. You can always just drink 1/2 now, 1/2 later.

On another note, i tried the premium chocolate mint, and wasn't a fan. I have 2 other of the new flavors to try, but i wouldn't really recommend this flavor, as it's not real minty, or chocolaty.

I've read thru the entire post as i was intrigued by TP and am hoping some of the experienced TP users can advise me:

I'm looking for an all-around protein powder that has a blend of whey and casein, which i understand is good because it offers both fast and slow release protein.

With that in mind I'm considering ordering TP's "Milk Protein Isolate," vanilla unsweetened (that way i can just add splenda to taste).

Has anyone tried this particualr product?

Is there another TP product that better suits my goal of finding an effective protein blend?

Any help would be appreciated!

From what I remember about the vanilla MPI, although it has been awhile, was that it is a bit chalky tasting...not as much as the CMDI or whatever that they offer. I would suggest getting it already sweetened if you are going to be adding splenda anyways because it with it pre-sweetened it was still a bit bland for my tastes.

any casein is going to be a bit chalky, and anything in it may take a little getting used to.

I like Team Skip blend, which is 34% Whey Protein Isolate Microfiltration, 33% Micellar Casein, 33% Egg White Protein. I would just get it sweetened w/ premium vanilla, like Defiant said (this already has the splenda in it), and if it's not sweet enough, you can add splenda, or get a separate flavoring of vanilla to add to it. I think the premium chocolate is the best flavor they have, w/ the strawberry and peaches and cream close behind.

Honestly though, i don't think there is a huge difference between casein products and isolates or concentrates. If i want something slower digesting, i'd just add fat or fiber to it. I would just get an isolate if you want something that tastes good, or a concentrate if you want something cheap. That said, team skip is still a pretty good tasting protein, even with casein in it.

I use whey isolate and then add Greek/strained yogurt or cottage or ricotta cheese if I want casein as well.

if you are ordering something you can in the comments ask for a sample of something else - e.g if you order Team Skip ask for a sample of MPI to try. I don't know if you can get a sample of flavored or not - you could call and ask I suppose.

I love the MPI...i had the micellar casein and that was way too chalky for my liking, but i like the MPI...i usually have some whey concentrate of the same flavor if i want to add more whey ot the MPI

haven't tried any of the mixes they have

just a good experience report.

I ordered some flavorings a couple of weeks ago - and then noticed that one of them was not what was on the invoice - instead of Banana Bash it was "natural Banana". It wasn't the same in density (took more volume for same wt) and it was hard to get the flavor right with since you had to use more and it wasn't exactly the same.

anyway - last Friday I emailed TrueProtein about the mixup - didn't expect to hear within the 24 hours because of the long weekend - and today a replacement 100g of Banana Bash appeared at the house.

Good service.

Yes I will have to say that they have really great customer service. And their protein isn't half bad either!
