Oh, so it's not enough that it's non-nutritious, it's also depraved and lecherous. We're now giving it the ability to affect the rise and fall of societies? That's no ordinary artificial sweetner.
Aspertame is the DEVIL! We better alert the vatican. They'll want to get some one on it pronto:

Splenda really has very different side effects and really isn't similar to aspartame at all other then it tastes sweet. Its discussed in this post Late night snack idea. If you want to view the studies based on it check out either of the two books I recommended the packed with them. The Pilots was just trivial collection of the wide spread recognition to its possible dangers. Such as Inverted vision, there was man who was driving to work down the highway when his vision flipped 180 degrees and had somehow pull off to the side of the road to call an ambulance. The doctor asked him if he had been drinking any diet soda. to which he replied I drink two diet pepsi's every day for 2 years. while I'm sure it wouldn't be very high interest to have airline pilots suddenly having to deal with inverted vision while flying even if it is a rare side effect. The side effects are real, some people can't handle bad news about something they need so they reject it. I see it all the time.

you know what's funny? I was driving, and got in a car accident. when the police asked me what caused it. I told him i didn't know, but i had a protein shake from home before driving.
So, protein=car accidents.
see how things work?

Not to be picky, but the location information comes from is very important. The site provided and the site the article references are sites that look like the national enquirer. These are not valid sources.

Ya, okay, hokey web-pick... here's the New York Times article that I read about it in originally, it has a link to a recent studys results. As the article notes, all of the studies that say nothing is wrong with it have been done by companies with a vested interest in diet products. "Of the 92 independently funded articles, 84 identified adverse health effects." But hey, whatever you diet coke heads need to tell yourself to keep drinking it..."

Post those 92 independant studies or link to them.
I've seen news articles cite invalid claims. One trying to bash the Atkins diet claimed high protein was hard on the kidneys, but the truth is there is no proof at all of that claim, but it was in the article.
When reporters and their editors have an agenda, it's very easy to manipulate the truth to fit the needs.
