Default muscle milk or cyna gainer

Which will be better for a 13 year old 5'9" 145 pound 8th grader that is starting to lift and is going through the PARISI speed camp?

Plain, unflavored whey in grape juice.

I've tried both MM and CytoGainer for extended periods, and while they both tasted good, and I certainly progressed, I've replaced both with simple basics and continued to progress.

There's a lot of junk in the Cytosport stuff. Like I've said, I used it to good effect and they taste good. But why not improve overall diet (more lean meat, nuts and fruits and vegetables) and slam down some plain whey with juice or skim milk after a workout? It's cheaper, healthier and does the same thing in the end.

If you are talking about using creatine (which the original Cytosport had - I know they have different versions now) then buy some plain, micronized creatine and dump that in there too. It's still cheaper and healthier than the pre-packaged mixes.

If I had to pick between the two I would pick the Muscle Milk because of the lower carbs and the whey/casein blend of proteins.

If it's weight gain you're going for then eating more whole foods is the way to go, adding a whey/casein shake around the workouts (half before and during, half after).

Steak and veggies.

Remember, these are supplements you're talking about. They're designed to supplement a diet where you're not getting enough calories already to gain weight. Your first option should be to just eat more food. Only if that doesnt work do you turn to supplements.

Through the workouts he is losing weight. I need something to help keep up his weight. Half the people suggest cyno gainer and half say muscle milk.

If he literally cant eat anymore, or the food just isnt available and its cheaper (or significantly easier) to use a weight gainer, then either will do the job. Dont forget, weightloss comes from burning more energy than you're taking in. To stop weightloss is purely a matter of taking in enough calories to offset the extra work he's doing.

From the sounds of it, Muscle Milk probably would suit better with less crap and more protein.

Dont forget though, 500 cals from a shake is EXACTLY the same amount of calories as 500 cals worth of steak and veggies (as far as weight gain goes), and the real food comes with all sorts of extra good things in it.

Thats the point we're trying to make. If possible, use real whole foods to get the extra cals. If thats not a viable option, then flip a coin and go with muscle milk .
