Default Cold Cereal

Ok I know everyone loves oatmeal. But if you had to choose a healthy cold cereal, what would you choose??? I am not looking for granolas, but I am looking for cereal I could find in the supermarkets. I usually eat sherred wheat. Is this a good choice?? But i am looking for a healthy low calorie cereal because I eat it by the box:p.

Kashi has a wide assortment of cereals that are healthier than most. I haven't really closely examined the nutritional facts, but they're marketed as beinh healthier... so they must be!

Kashi Go Lean High Protein Crunch is pretty good. It's still not quite low-carb if that's what you're aiming for, though, and it contains soy protein. And it isn't cheap. But if I had to eat cold cereal, that's what I'd pick.

You can make oatmeal flakes cold, too. I do it all the time. Usually I'll mix plain yogurt with whey protein powder, then stir in 1/2 cup of oatmeal and let it sit for a few minutes. Or pour a whey protein shake over the oatmeal, just like it's cold cereal.

I know my girlfriend lives off of fiber-one and its varieties, but its kind of... bleh. The kashi stuff is full of soy and to much money.

Whole grain cinnamon toast crunch has always been good to me....

I agree with Frank. With some of those "healthy" cereals the box actually tastes better.

I really like Kashi's Go Lean as well.

http://www.kashi.com/products/golean_cereal_original

I have 2 cups of that in the morning with fat free milk.

Go Lean Crunch original and the Honey Almond Flax version tastes even better but it more sugars and fat.

I think you guys are forgetting the healthiest cereal of them all, Cap'N Crunch. It also has its own method of preventing over-eating; it carves up the roof of your mouth which makes you stop.

On a more serious note I usually go with Kashi Go Lean, or Maple Frosted Mini-Wheats

Didn't stop me when I was a kid. I just developed callouses or something.

I like that Uncle Sam cereal w/the flax seeds in it.

I lived off of Cap'n Crunch and Apple Jacks in college. That stuff is tasty!

Mmmm, Cap'n Crunch.

My wife has bought some stuff called Northern Gold Whole Grain Granola that seems pretty good. The Rasberry & Blueberry is pretty tasty, and at least it's not completely bad for you.

If it fits your eating plan (overall calories and carbs and such) then it's fine.

Natural Oven's Bakery's "Great Granola"

If I had to choose a commercial, national cereal, it would probably be Honey Nut Cheerios.

The Kashi and Uncle Sam cereals are pretty good. Most major stores down here have them now.

I try to avoid the soy, when possible. Kashi has soy. But, if you're okay with it, it's pretty tasty.

I actually like Fiber-One, but it's really expensive for that box. And, if you aren't trying to lose weight, it's not a good deal. 60 calories per serving and half of that is fiber. Good for a cut, maybe.

It is really good sprinkled on ice cream.

Eat to much and work out hard = gain muscle.
Eat not enough and work out hard = lose fat.

Pick one goal and go for it. Your end results will be better no doubt. Trying to do multiple things at once usually leads to getting not that much accomplished. Yes, its possible to do both, but not practical.

Cinnamon Shredded Wheat is awesome. And there's one very similar to that one, made by Kashi. It's even better. YUM!!! Oh, and Quaker Cinnamon Oat Squares are good too. (Does anyone else see a pattern here? )
