Default The supplemet salesman

Classification system
Type 1- sales supplements as dietary supplements (meaning to supplement a proper exercise and nutrition regimen)

Type 2- sales supplements as potinent performance, physique, mentality, vitality and longevity enhancers (forgets to mention exercise or nutrition)

Type 2 seems to be the most common. Basic suggetions made by type 2's:

-referal to supplements as nutritionals (had two encounters of such last week)

- insists their supplements are the only ones scientifically proven, theirs are the best

- refers to board members or owners having phds, mds and so on

-explains how they have tried all other supplements on the market but this is the only one that works

- tells you to just give their product a try

- provides eating plans flooded with dietary supplement recommendations

- refers to science often yet cannot cite any references other than ones funded by their supplement companies

- refers to celebs that have had so much success with their product

- uses science until they discover you have valid science that refutes their statements, then they tell you "science doesn't really matter real world evidence is what counts"

- tells you you cannot maximize your health, physique or athletic potential without their products

That was just some brief info on the type 1 and 2 classification system.

thanks

as them what the composition of the fish oil is?

what is percentage of epa and dha?

what are some of the primary effects of epa and dha?

ask them to cite some research regarding fish oils

they will probably never bother you again after you ask these questions

thanks

Default supplement salesman

You will enjoy this story

I used to provide consultation services to a local GNC manager. He would call and ask supplement questions. I was amazed at the elementary level of knowledge this person had concerning supplements. I aske where do you get your supplement information from?

Answer: we are required to read the back of all the bottles in the store

Wow that is really looking into the situation

In my new video i will discuss various situations of this type (video will be released on Youtube soon)

thanks

ask them what type of fish contain significant amount of epa and dha once you explain to them what epa an dha are

also ask where they get the epa and dha from ?

much of the Epa and DHa found in fish oils is derived from the brown and red algae they consume

they can make EPA and DHA from the omega 3 alpha-linolenic acid but i think the conversion rate is minimal

I find that part amusing, especially when it's a PhD in something like basket weaving or art. "But Joe Doe, PhD, told me so!"

It is a must that you take these claims for what they are jokes. If not yes it is really hard to keep your professionalism and not go off. I get so much of this that it really gets old. When i opened up my facility this morning a SS-2 had dropped a supplement brochure under my door. The brochure filled with typical Bs. I looked at it and threw in garbage as i do all of this nonsense i receive. If you are going to be exposed to the fitness industry you have to understand junk science is the norm.
