Protein Supplement
Hey everyone I am new to this site, I just bought a 2lb bottle of Probolic SR and I have been on whey protein before this. I was wondering, I lift at night and take the Probloic SR right before bed and after my workout, but on Tuesday and Thursday, I run and do a core workout in the afternoon, shold i stick with my old way or take the probolic sr. I usually eat within the next 2 hours of my Tuesday Thursday workout.

Your plan is fine.
To he honest, that protein is probably nothing special, despite the hype in the ad copy. Next time, you should just buy regular protein powder, where you get 2-3 times that amount for the same price.
Buy one or two that you like, and take them when you need the extra protein or can't get the protein levels you need through solid food. Like just after your workouts, for instance.
Welcome to JP's!

So would you get probolic sr protein or would you just stick with whey??? Even though I work out at nigh, get home around 9-10
The whey I usually use is http://www.vitaminworld.com/pages/fi...&PID=1676&np=0, do you think this is a good whey??? I am a runner as well as a lifter. Usually run 8-12 miles a day

it's the difference between good and "perfect," but probably not a huge difference. I find it not worth the price difference to go with casein. Unless it tastes better, of course.
Now, some people report that they feel full longer with casein, so for them, it might really be worth it. It seems the same to me. I'm special, I guess...
Before bed, you could just eat a solid meal. Solids will last longer than a liquid protein, anyway.
Remember, protein powders are just food, in powdered form. It's a trick of the sup companies to make us think that it's not "just food." But, it is...
That being said, it's tasty and convenient. I drink 2-3lbs of my whey powder a week. But, it's merely for the taste (a good shake) or the convenience (pwo or on the run).

I have seen whey powder supplement recommended amount for adults from one scoop to 1 gm/lb of body weight etc. Nowhere have I seen recommended amount for children. My 11 year old daughter is a vegetarian and to make sure that she gets enough protein I add 1 scoop of whey powder in her diet. To me whey powder seems a natural food item but am not sure. Does anyone know if protein supplement such as whey is OK for kids?

Whey is just a "refined" milk product. It began as a leftover from the cheesemaking process and is now a full blown food, in it's own right.
Whey (or other milk based protein powders, like casein) should just be considered food. I feel my kids the stuff all the time.

Oh. The amounts recommended are just plain dumb. A supplement company probably has to have a recommended dosage to meet some rules or regulations. But, it's like Foster Farms recommending 1oz of chicken breast per x lbs of body weight, per day. It's just food.

Nope. But, stir it in after you cook the oatmeal or it will get all curdled.

Thanks LD. That's what I thought but it is nice to hear a confirmation.

You weigh 150lbs. You don't need whey protien. You need beef. And lot's of it.

Beef doesn't taste good in oatmeal.
Beef shakes are too grainy.
Lots of beef costs lots of money, too.

I thought that protein denatures when heated? I was told that you can freeze it, but not heat it up or else it loses it's value

If whey protein can be heated without losing any of it's biological value...please tell me so I can get started on some protein recipes.

HEating will damage the structural components of the whey protein, but seeing as most people are wanting to use it as a source of amino acids rather than any proposed biological activyt, its not much of an issue.
Like any protein, cook it for too long, you will start losing some amino acids as well.
