Default Refrigerated Fish Oil?

Hadn't given this much thought until I started packing for a trip I'm taking soon.

I normally refrigerate my fish oil caps. Obviously, I can't do that if I'm packing up two weeks' worth for a road trip.

Will they be okay unrefrigerated for two weeks -- including at least several days in a hot car? If not, the only other alternative I see is leaving them at home and just not taking fish oil for a couple weeks. That won't kill me but it would be nice to maintain consistency.

You're not taking a little cooler for drinks and snacks?

Even if you're not, take just enough for the trip. One ziplock baggy. Put them in your murse. A man should never leave his murse in the car, anyway.

I think you can take them with you. A cooler or something for healthy snacks etc is essential for me on all trips. Of course I don't know what your trip is but just thinking........

Edit: Yeah, what LD said. We were posting at the same time. Man!

Do we get to see pics of your murse LD?

I suspect the heat might be bad for them, but apart from that I have never bought my fish oil caps in a refrigerated section or kept them in one at home for that matter.

The heat would be bad for them. They should be kept in a cool, dry place. I buy mine - Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega in a refrigerated section and keep them there. When I travel, I keep them in a cooler, or in a ziplock as LD mentions and try to keep them cooler. Won't always work, but worth the effort in my opinion.

I suppose I should explain. Yeah, I'm taking a small cooler, but there will be at least several days straight where I may not have any access to electric refrigeration to re-freeze the blue ice-pack things. Not quite sure what to do for that.

Perhaps I'm naive, but fish oil should be refrigerated? We don't keep it on top of the furnace or anything, but it sits in the pantry with any other medicine/pills we may have. I've never given it a second thought.

Is this maybe a brand thing? How would you know if it's gone bad? It's always gonna smell like bad fish.

d00dz, d00dz, d00dz.

Fish oil is the darling of marketing. There are plenty of people on the planet who will live ripe long lives without it - EVER.

I know this because I am part of a secret society that Lost Dog would never even admit to being a part of for fear of a 2nd hazing.

Don't worry about it, go completely fish oil-free for 2 weeks & witness the liberation.

I ran out of fish oil over one month ago. According to my progress pictures, I'm leaner than ever before. My strength has also gone up a bit. Coincidence?

I'm currently in the midst of a little study. One subject. My study indicates that fish oil makes you fat, weak, and less veiny.

Oh, yeah. And apparently cigars make the local weather kinda hot. My apologies to my fellow Southern Californians. My bad.

I get o3s.. but its through food, mostly fish. Not gonna spend money on some supplement when I can have a tasty salmon.

Mind you, my dads cholesterol did get better with o3 supplementation, but it would have gotten better if he just included more better foods in his diet too.

They are a convenient way for me to get some extra calories and think I look fuller with them. I definately see you leaning out more without them, but 2 weeks is not that long. I spent some time camping and out on the houseboat for another week. I just brought a multivitamin because I knew I would be drinking more than usual. I was thinking how to include them too, but decided I needed a vacation from them also. Just try to eat like a champ.
