Default Food monotony

I'm very tolerable of the same foods day after day, but after 2-3 months of the same lunch, I feel I'm ready for a change.

I eat 2 lunches while at work, each about 250-300 calories. They constist of sliced lean turkey, sliced ham, sliced cheese (swiss, cheddar, provolone) and turkey pastrami. Also some baby carrots. On occasion, some pepperoni as well.

The beauty of this meal is that it takes about 10 minutes to put together 3 days worth of lunches. Then I can just grab one in the morning and be on my way.

I think it's time to move on to something else for a while. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I try to keep my carbs very low during the day, save vegetables. Extra credit for something that can be prepared in large quantities and will keep for several days.

tuna salad? grilled chicken breast? Sliced brisket? Burger patties? egg salad? Left over pork loin?

I generally have lunch of some sort of protein (chicken, pork, beef) and then vary the raw veggies: green salad, greek salad, coleslaw/broccoli slaw, crudites - usually the same veggie option for 4 days and something different on the Friday - like tuna salad with celery and peppers - and then switch the next week. If I don't dress the veggies until the day I'm eating them they'll keep all week.

I picked up some sliced roast beef this weekend. Not exactly creative on my part, but maybe it will be enough of a change until I come across something else.

a good chicken stirfry can be made up for an entire week, and if you grab all the ingredients and put them into a spreadsheet (the nutrition info and amounts of each, I mean) you can decide how many meals of how big to dole out. What can make for the variety (besides varying your veggies) is the sauce... some sugar free terriaki, or soy sauce, or various meat broths, or make up something else.

and the meat can easily be subbed as well... a lean sirloin tip, some lean pork loin... you get the idea...

'Tis the season to be grilling!

I've been grilling loads of shrimp and veggies with different rubs, kebab style. Toss the extras in a tupperware container and they'll save for a few days without going bad. Just open and reheat in the microwave.

Can work with any meat, for that matter.

Can't go wrong with a spinach salad with some grilled chicken or salmon. Grab a can of tuna or chicken, some real mayo and a fork. Frozen veggies in a glass container go well in the microwave...broccoli, sugar snap peas, green beans, brussel sprouts, etc. Check out some of the training logs, people will occasionally put what they're eating that day in their log. Or, start a "what's for lunch today" thread for more ideas.
