Default More food, or less

I've stalled out at my current weight. 6'3", 230 lbs, 25 years old. So according to the Harris Benedict formula my BMR is 2287.63 * 1.375 = 3145 cal/day to maintain.

I'm eating at 2400 cal/day average, of this I am certain. This is about 75% of maintenance, but the weight isn't moving.

So my question is, should I up calories a bit, or drop them a bit? My metabolism may be slow as I'm seemingly well under my maintenance amount, maybe too low. Or maybe I'm not far enough and need to cut down by about 100-200.

Let's assume that I'm going to try both options over time. Which do you think I should try first?

I've been doing NROL for about 2 months now and am currently doing 2 workouts a week, FL1. I also do HIIT 2 days a week.

I would try to bump up my energy expenditure first. Daily walk after supper? Lift 3x/ week. HIIT 3x/week. Any time you can burn extra calories rather than restrict food, you're going to probably be happier and more satisfied.

Seems awful low to me. Bump it up for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

This happens to me all the time. The longer you have been losing, the more frequently, it seems, you need to adjust your calories up again for a while.

I'd bump things up for a week, then bring them down again, but maybe not as much. It's almost as if you need to trick your body, so that it doesn't get wind that you're trying to lose fat. It's going to be starving, and as soon as it catches on, you stall again.

I'm starting to see some value in not eating the same foods or amounts every day. +/-200 cals per day may stretch at a potential stall a lot longer.

I'm glad you shared that LD. I'm putting that in my tool shed for later!!! Good idea.

I've upped it by about 200cal/day for right now, don't want to jump too high too fast. It seems like I'm gorging myself now. I never really got hungry before, save maybe 5-10 minutes before I planned on eating anyway. Perhaps I'm just very accustomed to it, as I think I've eaten around the 2,000 cal/day mark for the majority of my adult life.

I must say though, I'm enjoying my scrambled eggs with cheese before bedtime now.
