Question Hydroxycut + cardio??

Hey, I haven't been to the forums for a long time and I just finshed recovering from surgery so I am anxious to build muscle again and lower my BF% by 8-10%

Question:

When doing 45 min spinning classes is it safe to take a thermogenic burner like Hotrox or Hydroxycut?

Thanks :-)

I'd save some money and just have a nice cup of coffee before class if you're looking for an extra kick.

I've had customers at Vitamin World return Hydroxycut and other thermos because of (1) a rapid heartbeat that scared them (2) sleeplessness (3) their immune system was somehow compromised and they got a cold a week into it... every time they tried to take it again.

That said, if you have a high tolerance for caffeine, it might be an acceptable (but expensive) boost. Drop all other caffeinated products/drinks though.

But if you can kick your daily nutrition into gear, follow msmozrt's advice and throw down an espresso beforehand instead... less risky and cheaper!

You want to build muscle and you're doing 45 minute spinning classes? Seems counter-productive to me. And I don't think you need thermos yet needing to drop 8-10% BF, those should be used to get the last little bit when you've got everything dialed in and you need a boost.

I wouldn't touch hydroxycut again if someone paid me. I have a really high tolerance for caffiene and that stuff sent my heart rate through the roof, I could feel my heart beating through my chest, and this was all sitting down. I coudln't imagine it during a spinning class.

Thanks for the advice guys. And yes, the "build muscle/lose fat" at the same time idea is counter productive. I guess I need to drop 10 pounds before I can begin to get the good chest and arms I had 6 months ago. Frustrating to go from maintaing my body to starting from a negative....ugggh.

Gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time is not counter productive, however using large amounts of cardio to do so is. Just clean up your nutrition drop the junk and any alcohol and focus on heavy multi joint exercises, unless lifting heavy will damage whatever you had sergery on. Durring my first building phase this year I gained a pound on the scale and lost 3% body fat and I was eating 3400cal (clean) and doing 0 cardio:
Body Building Exploratory Committee
So it's not unthinkable to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, but the focus has to be on gaining muscle because if you are doing cardio and putting your body in a catabolic mood then you won't be gaining muscle.

Thanks for the advice guys. For the past 10 years, up until my surgery 6 months ago, I ate cleanly and worked out 5 times a week with little to no cardio added in. During the "layoff" I really went of the nutrition wagon and gained 15-20 pounds. Just before this all happened I was taking hydroxycut for that extra push in my weight sessions, but like I said I never did much cardio so I am not familiar with the consequences of taking these with cardiovascular exersizes. I am going to stay away from them for now. I just downloaded TT last night, so I am going to give that shot for 4 weeks and I have already begun eating cleanly again.

Has anyone here done Adam's Diet with TT full bore and had good results?

Thanks again :-)
