Default skeletal muscle calorie requirements

skeletal muscle metabolic activity?

how many times have you heard a lb of muscle burns 40-50 cals at rest?

seems that number has been inflated

in a paper Dissecting the energy needs of the body by Mcclave
there is a chart giving differnet energy needs for various tissues and organs

skeletal muscle 13kcal/kg per day
that is less than 6.5 kcal per lb

wow big difference from 40-50 cals

thanks

yeah, i used to belive the whole 40 cals per lbs before. But if you just think about it, its really way to good to be true. Think about bodybuilders how friggin much they would have to eat to support their muscle!
