Default trying to gain wgt, dealing w/ depression

ok maybe i can get some ideas from the pros. I like to go to the gym and lift weights, it helps me feel a little better. Right now I am about 6' 150 lbs, so I'm pretty thin. I think I have pretty good definition though and I'm fairly satisfied except I just want to get slightly bigger especially in the chest. That is my weakest area. Anyway I try to eat as much as I can but sometimes I just dont have a big appetite. I was wondering if there are any supplements or anything that I could take to help me add some weight and muscle. I also take meds for my depression so I just want to be sure these supplements or recommendations will not cause any problems with that. thank you

easiest answer = milk

If you drink a half gallon over the course of the day, you're adding an extra 1k calories right off the bat.

If you can't drink milk, peanut butter (or any nut product). Get used to eating food unless you plan on taking supplements for the rest of your life.

Most meds that are used to treat depression cause weight gain, so it's unlikely that your meds are getting in the way of your progress in that regard.

If you let not having an appetite stop you from eating, you will never gain the size you want. Your body doesn't really want to put on muscle so it's not going to make you hungry enough to eat tons of food. You can help this with a tough training program that will make you want food, but you're going to have to learn to eat more than what you think you need, and you're going to have to learn to eat past your comfort levels. Don't just load up on junk, but there are easy ways to get calories in. Gobbla mentioned milk, always a good one, a gallon of whole milk a day will help, as will any liquid calories, because they don't fill you up. Mixed nuts are great as well, tons of calories there. Eggs, meat, yogurt, fish, etc. are easy sources of protein. Starchy carbs are great too, once again, a lot of calories without filling you up.

Talk to anybody who has put on a lot of muscle in their life, aside from genetic freaks, they will all tell you it is not easy. It doesn't come by accident, forced feeding is often times necessary.

I find cheap calorie dense products like peanut butter, mixed nuts, tuna, and whole milk are god sends

There is no such thing as a magic pill, as many people much more wise than me have stated, they are progress enhancers not starters

Check out Berardi's massive eating articles, they will probably be a good start

remember don't get discouraged, it is a slow painful process to build muscle...but dammit is it ever rewarding
