Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
So the 2 best times during the day to have carbs are when you wake up, and after you exercise, right? And if you're going to have some starchy carbs, do it during these times, right?
IF the above is true, would beer be considered a good PWO drink? With a good amount of protein on the side.
I ask because, try as I might, beer/alcohol is not something I'll be able to cut out altogether while trying to eat clean. I'm not talking about every day either. Just on a Friday or Saturday a couple times a month. 95% of the time I'd prefer to drink water.
So would it be unreasonable to think that if you're going to have a few drinks with friends one night, exercise just beforehand so that you're in the 2 hour window.
Necessary Disclaimer: I'm not a nutritionist, nor do I play one on tv. I'm just trying to find the potential bright side.
There's a thought to a bit of alcohol bumping up T after a hard workout, too. Seemed like there was a MaxOutRadio.com episode that covered this... Anyone?
If you are going to drink, anyway, you're probably onto something.
I enjoy a good belt now and again too..but after reading the threads about alcohol here..I always consider them part of a cheat meal when I do. The one thing about alc that stuck in my head is that the body does not burn any fat until the body has finished processing all the alcohol. (I'm sure this is very simplified but it works for me)
So if your trying to cut fat off the bod, keep it in mind. Alcohol works against you..not just the calories..it's the chemical and how your liver processes it.
add to the fact that for the next 24 hours your t levels will be lowered so you may as well kiss goodbye to the major benefit of the next days training session
Alcohol a great recipe for man boobs!

At some point, you have to say to yourself, will this move me closer or further from your goals. If it moves you closer, do it. If it move you further, don't do it. It's that simple.
Use drinking beer as a cheat meal, because that's what it is.
And this is my opinion but...

...this is complete bullshit. No one will say you have to cut it out completely, but to say you don't have the ability to do it is a decision you've made.
I reached the point where I realized drinking does absolutely nothing to improve my health, in fact, it doesn't have any positive effects on me...so I quite drinking.
It's a choice, don't make it sound like you HAVE to drink and can't quit. If that's the case, you may need to seek some professional help. Otherwise, you simply don't want to quit.

Easy Blackjack. If saying that I enjoy a few beers twice a month makes me sound like I have a problem, then I know a lot of people that need serious help.
I never said I don't have the ability to cut it out. I don't want to cut it out completely, I'll state that very clearly. If you've found that you're better off without it, then I'm glad that you found something that works for you.
I was simply asking if there was any benefit to having it after a workout as opposed to any other time of the day.
By "t" I'm guessing you all are referring to testosterone. So it raises testosterone while your drinking, then lowers it after you stop? I think I'm misreading that.

Beer+protein powder would make a hell of a supershake haha.
yeah, I remember listening to that. Mike said that you need like 3-5 beers to actually get this T increase.
I'm sure PWO is a better time to have a beer than non-PWO.
Also, having a drink 2x a month won't kill your progress.
