Default silly question

I would like to ask a silly question and I do not give a rodents rectum if I get mocked for it:

Eating fried chicken without the skin - would it significantly reduce the unhealthy fat content. The only reason I ask is that I am lazy and hate cooking. Eating tuna, ham plus drinking protein shakes all the time is a bit boring.

Well, ...in moderation.

Once a week? Maybe a bit less. Bake it on a rack where possible to let the fat drain off.

I tend to eat a lot of baked chicken and I'm missing good fried boneless, skinless chix breasts.

as long as you count the calroies its never a problem just be aware of the nutritional value ie its not as good for you. If its every day then its a problem but once a week in the grand scale of things aint gonna kill you

How can you hate cooking, nothing better than throwing meat on a grill and charin' it up. Plus with the right merinade or seasoning you get something that tastes way better than nasty KFC. I recomend doing several lbs of chicken all at once on the grill, then getting some tupperware and use it for the rest of the week. That way you only have to cook once a week, even for a lazy person that shouldn't be so tough.

and by the end of the week if the food poisoning doesnt get ya first that dried up unappertising morsel of chicken is sure to put you off of eating

Short answer: yes. The skin contains a lot of the fat in the chicken, and the breading is where some oil will be absorbed during cooking.

Basically, I think that based on macronutrients and calories, fried food is not necessarily "unhealthy" or "bad" -- it depends on what type of oil is used and what the food is breaded in. But, since you don't like to cook, I assume you're talking about some sort of fast food fried chicken, which is usually heavily breaded and fried in not-so-healthy oils. So sure, take off the skin and breading and enjoy.

If you're talking about fast food chicken (like KFC), see if there are other varieties around. In S. Cal, we have Boston Market and El Pollo Loco. Both have good chicken that gets marinated before cooking. They taste better, since some seasoning is now in the meat.

They aren't fried, either, so if you like eating the skin (raises hand), then you have another option.

Grocery stores have bagged/boxed roasted or rotisserie chickens that are pretty good, too. My market has both. They look identical, but the plastic box is 6.99 and the plastic bag is 4.99. For me, that's $1.25 per meal.

Be that as it may, I eat KFC, skin removed, all the time. Double green beans. Large Diet Pepsi.
