Hello,
I have read lots of people using a combination of Whey and Gatorade powder as a PWO drink. Well it seems that sometime in the past years gatorade has switched from saying on its label glucose-fructose to listing high fructose corn syrup with glucose-fructose in parenthesis. From other stuff I have read is the body doesn't absorb HFCS like it does other sugars, so is this still good as a PWO? Just wanted to know what people thought.
Thanks,
CP
yeah, the botted gatorade is all hfcs and is crap. Buy the powdered gatorade--much cheaper and its main ingridient is dextrose(which is glucose)

Yup I go the powdered gatorade route, even now for games and practices. I'll just use old gatorade bottles.

Cressey blogged on this recently, much to my chagrin as I have been using bottled gatorade for my workout mixes. I can't find the powdered stuff where I am and figured it was about the same thing (I also can't read the labels).
I just find it funny how my thought process on workout drinks has evolved over the years. I started with commercial PWO drinks, then when that became too expensive I went for truprotein blends, then I started just mixing my isowhey and dextrose myself. Fast forward a bit and I'm combining a whey blend and bottled HFCS. I'm glad for Cressey's blog and this thread to show me the folly of my ways. another year and I'd probably have been mixing pepsi and chocolate milk in a blender and convincing myself its about the same as surge.

This creates many problems, as Gatorade itself has fallen to a similar fate as Powerade: Ready-to-drink Gatorade now has a main ingredient of High Fructose Corn Syrup.

How about Aquarius? the label says its carbs are "sugar"; should I understand it´s dextrose, or are they just hiding something.
By the way, Aquarius is lighter on the stomach than others, I use it since my doctor recommended it to me during a gastro-enteritis (sorry, can´t name it in English, but I´m sure it´s similar), and felt just great. You have 30g of carbs in a 500ml bottle.
on a related note, are all "table sugars" you buy in a store the same split? ie, there's beet sugar, cane sugar (prob some others) but the ingredients list would simply specify sugar. is it safe to assume they are all sucrose?
