Pre-Alcohol Consumption Nutrition
Tomorrow night I have been invited to go out with a friend of mine and I am expected to drink (I will only do it if it is from beer pong) and I am wondering what is the best way to ease the damage it will do before I go there.
I was thinking doing maybe low cal no carbs until the party but still getting in a good 200+g of protein and a good amount of fat.
Your thoughts?

Its not going to make a difference at all how you break up your macros.
Just eat like you usually would and go out, the next day eat like you usually would.
The main problem with alcohol for many is the fact their nutrition is bad the day after.

i agree, stick to the plan besides the drinks. I know when i drink that the next day I'll usually be feeling poopy. Then its a grease burger from mcdonalds or no food all day. I would take a multivitamin before you go out..I'm pretty sure (correct me if im wrong) that alcohol depletes B vitamins--this helped me especially the next day because I get DOMS to the max if I drink alcohol. If you can drink a solo cup full of water between rounds...there's only so much damage control you can manage. Enjoy the night and maybe don't do any fitcast stuff that night

Actually low carbing it can make things worse. There was a recent study that showed that between a drink with a sugar mixer and a drink with a diet mixer, the diet drink drinker got more drunk and faster.
From my own experience, I seem to feel buzzed quicker without carbs with it (either food or in the drink). Beer comes with carbs, built in, luckily.
I would eat like you normally do, have a good time, and don't sweat it much. It's just one night and while I don't see you every day, you seem very dedicated to a healthy lifestyle.

Most of the "hangover prevention" pills are made up of vitamin C, some sort of B-complex, and carbon.
So like RyPat said, pop a multi, and then if you want to play it safe, have some burnt toast. The black stuff is the carbon that willl "pad" your system and prevent hangover symptoms, which include not eating enough/well.

That's interesing because I have heard of this before. Just a curiosity, but do they attribute it to the low carbs or the alcohol plus artificial sweeteners in diet mixers. It's just something I have heard in specualtion and was wondered about.

The article said something like this. "Your stomach can only empty itself of nutrients so fast, so the sugar reduces the rate at which the alcohol is absorbed." There seemed to be something specific to carbs, too. I don't think protien and fat CAN be absorbed through the stomach, so a meal of P+F doesn't have the same effect. The P+F gets ignored by the stomach, while the alcohol gets sucked up.

Where did the burnt toast idea come from? That's a new one to me.
No disrespect intended, Ian, because you're a knowledgeable guy, but that sounds to me like an old wives' tale (like a lot of other hangover preventatives).

Wouldn't it be easier to just eat aquarium charcoal?
