Default Suggestion?

I really struggle with starch cravings later in the day. I'm fine until about 4-5pm and then I'm on a mission, I find the nearest faststop and it's over. Any suggestions on defeating this?

I apologize in advance if this topic has already been posted. I'm too lazy to search for it if there is!

P.S. - I joined fitday.com today and am going to make the effort to track my foods and workouts. Please feel free to access my journal and post any thoughts and advice. I really appreciate all of the support found on this board.

This happens to me all the time. Try to brush your teeth. Who wants to ruin all that good teeth cleaning (so do a good job)? Floss, if you've got it...

I'm assuming your asking me. I guess low-carb, about 30%. Although I won't actually be counting them but allow for Adam's diet to take care of it.

Not random. It's a real tip. Plus, the toothpaste sorta kills the taste of the food, so you might give up on it.

Brushing your teeth is a good idea, if not rinsing your mouth helps, drink water, and EAT something else. Have some back up food ready. Try not to wait untiol you are suddenly craving food. If it hits you at 4-5, eat something at 3;30 (non carb or low carb) say brocolli, or the green veggie. If you have to "cheat" then make it better carbs than 7/11. It does not matter what time of the day it is, unless you are buying a newspaper or condoms, you should not be inside a convenience store!!!!

Hope that helps.

Everyone gets this once in a while. I have been keeping the carbs <50g per day for almost 3 weeks now. Ive had it really bad about 3-4 times. What I can suggest is that every time you eat something ask yourself "Is this getting me closer to my goals" If the answer is no, providing you want your goals bad enough, you wont eat it.

When you say <50g per day of carbs, is that 50g starchy carbs and then however many veggies you want?

Nope. Thats 50g of carbs total (with veggies). Its actually a fair amount of veggies if I eat broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, green beans, peppers etc.

Im actually making good progress in my eyes. Im done being fat for good, I actually think ive kicked some of my habits after only 3 weeks. Im down 11lbs too.. Some of that is water I know (2lbs maybe?).

If your going to do the same but with starchy carbs.. make sure they are eaten after workouts. Some would suggest doing this no matter what.

Over the period over 2 years I've lost about 95lbs. I went from a size 18 to a size 3 now and about 16-17% bf. I just have that last bit of fat on my abs and I am working on that. I've always counted everything but as of about a week ago I decided to eat according to my body because counting EVERYTHING, weighing it, planning it, eating it just because I planned it, and eating at exact set times caused me so much stress to be perfect for the past 2 years straight. I am a perfectionist. I was just wondering about other ways people count because I thought maybe I was being too strict with my counting. I really think that not counting and stressing over every morsel of food I put in my mouth will help me tremendously. Hopefully I get that hard stomach with a little ab defination that I want. I just really hope I didn't ruin it because I was previously fat.

i use a format that rather than equate to calculating every morsal I work on portion size where all the number crunching is done berfore hand. Similar philosophy they use in majority of packaged diets ie Weight watchers where points equal prizes but a little more scientific.

Theres quite a few tools out there its a case of finding which one works best for you as mine are based on a specific macro split that may not be what you are aiming for ie 60% carbs 25% protein 15% fat
