Default Rice Protein Powder

I have a dilemma ... I am allergic to whey ... it's not something I can get over because I get hives in my throat (which is generally not conducive to breathing!) ... so I've always used soy ... Spirutein to be specific. It's a little thick and doesn't mix easily unless I use a blender but whatever ... over on the PN forum, I read enough to convince me to switch to rice protein powder which I easily found at my local Vitamin Shoppe. I bought vanilla and chocolate ... they don't taste very sweet so I add stevia (can't do splenda ... it gives me a headache) and usually only have it mixed in with other things in my supershakes (usually Greens+, a few Tbs greek yogurt, fruit of some variety, ground flax, and the pp).

It just doesn't seem to "become one with the shake" ... it's gritty and separates out if I make the shake in advance and pack in my cooler ... I actually had just the vanilla pp in water the other day (I went to my daughter's preschool and we were having apples for snack, so I brought my protein to be balanced) ... first it was totally separated by the time I got to it, and second, it tasted like gritty chalk!!! UGH!!!

Any advice?
