So, I'm out of cooked meat, low on milk, I have eggs, but I just don't feel like having eggs again today.
I haven't cheated in a while (perhaps 1 1/2 weeks), but I already had some massive calories today in the form of a full-strength 16-oz bottle of surge and a PWO shake with a 2:1 ratio of carbs to protein.
Should I have a cheat meal under such conditions?
Also, what is acceptable cheats? Fast food? If I did this, it would be a bacon double cheeseburger from BK and a small bag of fries or a chicken cordon blue and curly fries from Arby's, no soda (lost the taste for soda pop).
Or, since I have to go back to the grocery store, I could pick up some broasted chicken from the deli, which I haven't had in an even longer time.
If you just had a PWO shake then I'm assuming you lifted today. If so, that's not too bad a time for a cheat meal, if you're gonna do it.
"Acceptable cheats"? Methinks that's an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp, funny accountant or guilty pleasure. If you're going to feel guilty about the pleasure, don't do it!
IMO, Arby's sounds better. But I'd prefer to eat two sandwiches and skip the fries.

Yeah, I lifted, else it's just a protien shake (milk and whey).

It's not the guilt. I wouldn't feel guilty. But obviously this deep fried monstrosity is pushing the limts of cheat and stepping into heart stopper.

Sounds like a plan for sunday. I opted to fry up a steak and eat some more spinach.
I have always been uncomfortable with the common usage in dieting of "cheat", whether it be meal, day, whatever. As adults, (and I count you all in the category) it is alright for us to decide how much 'slack' we can crank into our diet. There is nothing that I have not eaten from my old obese days. But I never give myself a 'cheat day', that somehow implies that I am still enslaved to my old eating ways, and really want to go back to them. I enjoy every bite of birthday cake at grandkids parties (usually 4 quite small ones), a slice or two of pizza, when I am a guest I eat whatever is placed in front of me. Courtesy does not demand I clean up my plate, only enjoy what I eat - and enjoy and eat some I do. Rob

Oh no, I didn't mean a whole day. For me a skack is one meal. And I also enjoy an occasional brownie or birthday cake, but since I'm still significantly overweight, I have to keep the treats to a minimum.
I got myself so conditioned on the "sweets as a treat" thinking, I've forgotten some healthy stuff can be a treat: beef jerky! I pig on this stuff too much.
Cynic - as I thought, we are on the same page here. I think my term, 'slack', is more accurate than 'cheat'. We are not fooling ourselves, its not behind closed doors, we are in control. And it sure feels good to be fit. Rob
There was a long thread about what constitutes a "10% feeding" in JB terms (i.e. a "cheat") over in the PN forums. Certainly it's possible to consume thousands of calories in one sitting. But if you've been eating at 100% for a week and a half, one meal won't have an enormous effect, even if it's far from ideal.

I don't know. I'd consider a cheat meal and a 10% meal to be different. I'd still count my cheat as a 10%, but 4 cheats a week would kill me. Four 10% meals, wouldn't.
A 10% meal, for me, ranges from:
a burger with a wheat bun and a salad
an otherwise good meal that's just way too big (a trip to
Souplantation, for instance)
a slice of pie or NORMAL size piece of cheesecake (not a Cheesecake Factory piece)
a couple slices of pizza
I wish I didn't have a cheat meal every week, but I often do.
