Default Too You for Shake?

My godson is 12 years old and built like a short twig. He has a pretty messed up Dad that is getting more out of the picture everyday, so I'm trying to help him out. His mom is a vegetarian, and even though she makes meat for him he eats less than a bird. In soccer practice the other day he was getting pushed around the field, because he's so much smaller than everyone else. I was hoping to help him put some weight on. I figure the kid will be going through his growth spurt soon and the skinny problem will get even worse.

I haven't been able to get him to eat more, but I was thinking maybe a shake would be good for him. It has to be easy since he'll probably doing it himself. I'm a big fan of Muscle Milk, so I was leaning that way. But I'm worried about him being too young, since I don't know what several of the things in Muscle Milk are.

What do you guys think?

Protein powder is just food. Now worries.

I'd stay away from the meal replacement and post workout varieties, but most whey, casien, etc. powders are cool.

The ingredients of Muscle Milk look pretty decent. I've only tried it once, but everyone says it's tasty. Tasty is what you want for a kid.

I make my son shakes of banana and milk, every day. So simple, but they are so good and he sucks them down. I cut up and freeze the bananas, too. Delicious.
