Default Found the greatest way ever to count cals

I use excel for everything, I love it. I track my training program like crazy, it's easy to keep track of every detail with excel. Each worksheet has a different program with different goals and I can set up microcycles in minutes with it. So I figured why not use it to track cals??

First I put every food I have and usually eat into a table, listing the cals, fat, carbs, fiber, and protein. Then I have a different table where I can just copy a food from the list and paste it in the table. So if I make a shake with 8oz milk, scoop of whey, flax, and greens +, I just copy and paste those items one on top of the other, and at the bottom I have it set up to add up cals, fat, carbs, fiber, and protein and calculate the % of calories from each. So as the day goes on, I just copy and paste what I ate or what I want to eat and I can instantly see cals and macro breakdown for the entire day so far. So if I get halfway through the day and see I'm low in a particular macro %, I can sit there and cut and paste what I think I should eat and see how it affects each. I find it SOOOO much easier than dealing with fitday or having to add it up manually, but the best part is the list of the foods, I can just leave every food there and don't have to read the label every time. It's so nice having the percentages instantly.

Jason, that's exactly what I do, use my own Excel spreadsheet. Over time you collect everything that YOU eat and the info is all right there, so it's pretty easy to keep your nutrition log. My worksheet adds everything up for me and keeps me abreast of my macronutrient percentages as the day goes by. It works for me too!

OK, I guess I'm behind the power curve on this one. Damn, I thought I figured something out! Wish somebody would've clued me into this earlier, I love it.

I desire to set up something like that...

Reasons I use fitday.....It's on-line...It's simple.

Really fitday is perfect except I can't add a food somewhere in the list or easily time stamp it. That is my only beef with it.

I have toyed around with doing it in excel and maybe keeping it on a memory key or something...One day maybe.

I do use excel for charting most training stuff though!

YAY EXCEL!

Give calorieking.com a try. 7 days free, I think. Like fitday.com, on steroids.

Granted, you have to pay for it, but it's not so much, per year.
