Default How Often Whey?

I have begun a supplementation program recently, and have the creatine and glutamine thing down pat, but am curious as to how often to consume whey protein powder. I know about the PWO ninety minute window, and utilize that, but would like to know if I can use this product every day? Perhaps even twice a day? Goal is to add ten to twelve pounds of lean muscle mass by the end of September 2006 onto a frame that is currently 5'10", 152.25 lbs. w/ 7.6% bodyfat as of three weeks ago. Thanks for your input.

you *can* use it as often as you want, just keep in mind that you're not getting any kind of the nutrients that you'd get out of whole foods. ie it's not *better* for you than whole food and there isn't any reason to use it in place of whole food short of convience.

so...use it as often as you want.

One scoop of whey in water is going to be about 120 calories. You're going to have to drink a lot of those to add some weight. Go with the whole food instead and save your whey for pre and post workout.

Gotcha fellas... I've been using it as a pre and post w/o supplement only thus far, but was curious. Will stick with lean meats and fish along with fresh vegetables and limited grains as I've been doing for many years. Definitely appreciate your collective input. Thank you both.

Sounds like you have a good diet. All you need to do is eat more. A couple of hundred calories a day extra for a week, then a couple hundred more and so on. Don't know if you'll get all the weight you want but you'll get close.

Like the others said, eat more real food. Whey is great supplement, but it's a supplement. It's great around the workout, but you can also use it any time when trying to gain weight. Like between meals when you're not really hungry for food, slam a shake with whole milk and couple scoops of whey, easy way to get cals and protein. At your height and weight, size should come fairly easily, but that's a lofty goal, but doable. Just be prepared to accept some fat gain, when you say 'lean muscle' I hope you don't expect to achieve that with no fat gain.

I realize that there is really no such thing as complete lean muscle gain without some fat added, however if I keep the "off day" cardio regimen that has been in place for several years now, I see no reason why I cannot reach this goal by the end of September. The thing I am fighting now is the "overfull" feeling that is uncomfortable to me. That bloated feeling that comes from consuming more calories that one's body is accustomed to. Thanks OG for your encouraging comments. I appreciate them immensely. Will keep all advised as to the outcome of my experiment. Thank you for your ideas and comments.
