Default Growling Stomach

What makes it growl? I'm hungry, of course.

Some days, eating the same amounts and the same basic foods at the same basic times, I get no growling. Other days (like today), I'm starving and growling. Annoying.

Yeah, that's annoying. Happens to me, too -- I eat close to the same stuff every day at the same times, but some days it just seems like the hunger wants to kick in and stay no matter what I eat. Could be my imagination, but it seems to get worse the day after I break the routine.

For growling, though, I find it's usually worse in the first half hour or so after I eat. That's when I get those embarrassing noises from my gut...

The growling actually comes from your intestines, not your stomach. Don't ask me how I know that, I picked it up somewhere.

But I know what you mean, some days I feel like I never get hungry, other days it seems like I can't eat enough.

Could it be because you expended more calories on the days when your stomach is growling vs. the days that it isn't? Just my first thought.

Your brain sends hungry signals to you stomach. Your stomach prepares for digestion. The more nutrients that you need, the more your brain will be making your stomach growl by sending hungry signals.
I think when you diet (just my suggestion) your brain blitzes out anyways so whatever you are giving it is not satisfying at all. Your "starving" state is unacceptable on the days you get a lot of growling. I get hungry a lot after refeeds I think because there is much insulin released during them and it sweeps you of nutrients. Then all the stuff you ate and stored or didn't eat because you refed (substituted protein, veg, fat for mostly carbs) leaves room for more foods to come in. Think of it like wiping a blackboard off, then you can write more on it. Both diet and refeeds will do that to you I think. A lot of people complain if they ate a lot at night they get very hungry in the a.m. I guess it's the same issue. Then, there's also the g-flux that could be a part of it. Just some thoughts.

I have noticed it more after a pig out day. And, it's terrible the morning after a feast.

The day after deadlifts is bad, too!

It seems to me that since I have started to get my metabolism more fired up I need to hit all my meal times. Before I started eating healthier I could miss breakfast and lunch and it would be no problem but if I ate breakfast then I would be starving by lunch. It never made sense back then but after reading everything on boosting your metabolism by eating properly it explianed it. So it makes sense that after refeeds or cheat meals your metabolism is more fired up there fore it wants more calories.

That's funny. I thought your subject was GROWING stomach when I first clicked on it. HA! What makes it grow? I'm hungry, of course.

Sweating is a clear sign of the thermic effect. When i did the partial velocity diet and had one liquid and one solid day the breakfasts on solid days, even though they were the basic eggs+veggies made me sweat terribly.
