Default new Biotest Grow Whey

Has anyone tried the new Biotest Grow "premium" Whey yet?

I've been taking the low-carb grow/Metabolic Drive for a couple of years and have loved the taste. but since they can't seem to get their SHIT together and keep it in stock, i was thinking about trying this new stuff out since serving for serving it's a better deal. but i want to make sure it doesn't taste like crap.

rip off. You can get a 5 lb tub (compaired to 2lb) for $10 less than what they are charging. If you got the cash, why not. But if you like what you are taking now for whey, stick with it, like ON's.

actually, the new Grow whey is a 5 pound tub and not a 2 pound tub like low carb grow/metabolic drive.

i'm interested if anyone has tried it to get an idea of what the taste is like.

I hadn't even looked at it until now, but I think I'm going to start buying that instead of LC Grow (which has been my favorite for years now). The casien in LC Grow gives me problems now and then, and I don't get along too well with cheap crap like ON. Five pounds of high quality whey for $30 doesn't sound bad at all, and I'll bet the taste is Ok. I've never tasted anything really bad from Biotest, anyway.

Anyone else notice that a lot of their products are becoming "premium" or "extra strength"? Wasn't it supposed to be "the best you can get" anyway? What's so special about the new stuff?

Yeah. The CostCo protein that I buy went from $20 to $25, from jug to bag, and from 22 to 28g P per serving. New and Improved! Sorta. Same weight, fewer servings, bigger scoops? hmmm..

To be fair, the formula changed quite a bit. From just whey alone to whey, casien, and egg proteins. Plus it mixes and tastes a lot better. But, the bag still contains the same number of grams of protein! $5 more and no jug. I like jugs.

The "natural" flavor is not to bad. It is waaaay better than the ON AnyWhey which is also supposed to be unflavored. the new grow whey smells like cake mix and it mixes well with metabolic drive and other flavored proteins.

Michael,

Welcome aboard...

I've never had a "natural" flavored one. Is it a lot less sweet and flavored than a vanilla whey? I find a lot of powders too flavorful for my oatmeal or cooking.

Thanks for the welcome. So what does the natural flavor taste like all by itself....not much..I believe that it is sweetened with splenda but it doesn't taste that sweet. I haven't had it in oatmeal but I've made some protein bars with it and mixed it with other flavored proteins and it works great and doesn't interfere with the flavor of whatever I'm mixing it with. Alone though it taste like ON 100% Vanilla Whey did 10 years ago (which isn't saying much). So don't drink it alone (though I don't know why you would) but mixed with other things it is great.

hmm. . . since it's natural flavored it might work well for mixing with all types of flavors of powerade/gatorade powder. That'd be convenient, instead of having to buy different flavors and trying to come up with a decent taste.

so i ended up buying some of the new Grow Whey and i'll agree with Michael, if you mix it with something, it's fine, but if you have it with just water, be prepared for the gag effect. i had it with my during workout gatorade drink and it was fine and it'll be a much cheaper route than using metabolic drive.

I like the tip on the bottle. In case your math is a bit shaky...

Quote:
Directions: For 22 g of protein, combine one level scoop (30 g) with 8 oz of cold water. For 44 g of protein, combine two level scoops with 16 oz of cold water. For 66 g of protein, combine three level scoops with 24 oz of cold water. Mix thoroughly in a blender for 20 seconds, or in a shaker for 30 seconds.
I'm thinking of working a formula into a spreadsheet, just in case I need to mix up 88g of protein.

I'll bet there is a large group over at T-Nation that are confused by this.

Has anyone givin this stuff a shot.

If you listened to this weeks FitCast you may have noticed that the Metabolic Drive Formula has changed. They took out the cassin casinate (I am pissed about this) and put in some cheap Whey. Makes me really think Biotest F-ed its customers there. Also they would not refund my money after they send me a product that was diffrent then the advertisment (servings/ingredients/Protein content).

As you can see I am really pissed about this, beforehand this was my favorate supplement.

I thought they had a Money Back Guarantee if you're not satisfied.
