Question Advice on Keto Diet?

Can anyone post suggestions on the validity of my diet? I am basically shooting for 65%fat, 30%protein, 5% carb ratios which results in more of a ketogenic diet than does Adam's diet. I drink plenty of water, strength train 3-4X a week, I'm 37, 175lbs and trying to cut out the last 5-7lbs. I am aiming to cut by shooting to max out at 1,800 calories a day. I cannot fully control every meal because my professional life leads me to eat out several times a week and involves drinking (a martini and glass of wine mostly) so I limit carbs as much as possible for the meals I can control and the difference comes from the few that sneak in during meals I cannot control as much. I still low carb it when I am out, i.e. steak, veggies, meat (full fat), salads, no desert, no mixed drinks, no added sugars, etc

Can alcohol knock one out of ketosis? Not that I think ketosis is necessary... Just curious. Because if ketosis is your goal and alcohol's going to take you out, then might as well not go quite that low carb at other times. 5% is pretty hard to achieve. That's like 90 calories of carbs per day. I couldn't do that.

Yeah, I picked up a lot of information from Fitnessman and some experienced keto-ers on BB.com in their keto forum. Some of those guys stay in keto for years and carb up once a week or every few weeks - some only TKD or SKD. I learned that alcohol doesn't knock you out of ketosis, it just replaces ketones as the body's preferred source of fuel until it is used up - so it slows down or postpones lipolysis. I've found the more fat (all fats) I eat and the less protein and carbs the more energy I have and I never crave sugar....which for me is amazing...I'm trying it for a while :-)

Stick with drinks that contain less sugar and alcohol. They have low carb beer there, don't they? You can search the forum on bodyrecomposition.com. I am sure it has been discussed there.
