Question Gourmet Nutrition...

OK, so I'm finally in a position (financially) to buy Gourmet Nutrition and my wife has been on me about cooking new & exciting things for dinner. So my question is how did you all get it printed. I've heard that you can get a printed/bound copy from Kinkos but how did you do that and how much did it cost? I've got a jump-drive I could put it on to take it down there or I can burn it to a CD. Or do I need to do something different.

Thanks in advance...

Ted

Hi Ted,

I'm glad you're taking the plunge.

It is nice to have a bound and printed version for your kitchen. If I recall, Kinkos printed and bound it for about $15.

The other alternative is to print each recipe as-needed on your home computer.

I got it a while ago, but have only made two of the recipes. I have used it's template on how I cook some of my food. I printed it at work. We have a duplex colour laser and then took that home.

I brought the PDF to work, printed it using their paper, then put it inside one of their binders

It's nicely camouflaged in my kitchen as a "How Government Works" binder.

I personally can not wait till the new edition of the book comes out so I can give it to my mom. I would love to have some healthy home cooked meals that I know will taste great.

I called our local Kinko's and they wanted $.08/page to print it in b&w. Needless-to-say, I'll be printing it after hours here at work. There appears to be plenty of paper & binders. BTW, it looks great and I can't wait to get cooking. My wife was actually excited about it as well!

So Larrabee's recommendation is the Chili...anyone else got suggestions for what recipes to start with...any inside information or alterations you all have made? Just wondering...

Also a question for Johnka, the meals marked Post-Workout...how long of a window for PW meals do you recommend? I usually workout between 5:30 and 6:30 am but I figure lunch is too long to wait for a PW meal, am I right in that thinking? So I suspect a good PW breakfast would be good...something I could heat up at work. What are your thoughts?

You can't go wrong with the chili. However, if you make the whole recipe you better have a big pot.

I made the Greek Burgers and the Chili so far - both were real good. The burgers were real easy and they are much easier to take to work..

The PWO window is generally about three hours. It could be longer or shorter depending on your goals and your insulin sensitivity. If your goal is to lose fat and get stronger, then I would say that 6 hours (in you lunch scenario) is too long for another PW meal.

For breakfast, I'd go with steel cut oats, blueberries, and vanilla whey. You can prepare it the night before and just heat it up at work.

Any luck freezing the omelets? Like I said, I workout in the a.m. so time in the morning is at a premium (I have to be to work by 7:30a.m.). Or maybe just refrigerate and re-heat? Will definately try your oatmeal recipes.

I wouldn't freeze the omelets - they're likely to get funky when they thaw.

I just scramble them in the morning before I leave, or even the night before, and reheat them in a microwave later.
