Default Water consumption...

So why am I drinking all this water? I try and empty 3-32oz bottles while at work and another 32 oz or so at home before I go to bed. But I end up peeing like every 45min-1hour. Seems like it's just going through me. Is it really doing any good?

While that's more water than most people drink it's pretty close to 4 litres, which I consume alot of days. Not everyday, but alot of days.

It is my understanding that if you are peeing alot it means your body is hydrated and your not holding water.

I tend to go by the color of my pee. The darker it is the more water I drink, the lighter the more I ease up.

I think Core Performance has a color chart. You could cut it out and tape it up above the toilet. People would think you were a SERIOUS freak then!

1) water metabolises fat or rather it allows the organ to do their job efficiently and undertake the tasks they are designed to do
2) Hydration means the body is working efficiently ie brain as well and also helps maintain healthy skin ( you will be a model he he)
3) the more water you drink the less water the body retains

you may laugh but its a good point there LD not that you will dehydrate but and this is the downside of higher consumption the more you drink the more you feel you need. Seriously when I was up at 7 I couldnt face drinking it but was thirsty all the while in the end so I phased it back down to 4

I've been there, too. I've settled into a good amount. I don't track it, but found that the more I drank the more time I spent walking down the hall. Yet, I still wanted to drink more.

I used to worry about this, but then I realised that between refilling my drink bottle, and going to the toilet so regularly, I was by default getting up and moving every 30 mins or so like all the experts agree you should when you work at a desk all day.

I do cut back at night though, I dont drink a heap from around 6pm onwards. Means I can get a full nights sleep instead of needing to get up in the middle of the night.

I drink a good 2-3 gallons of water a day. Keeps you from getting board and looking for some food. Also there is no problem with staying hydrated. Yes you will pee every 45 minutes but I like getting up for a walk, especially in the middle of class.

You may need to watch your electrolye balance. A sports drink can help keep the balance but if you don't want the extra calories banana's and alittle salt are a good addition to your diet.

Does anyone else find that keeping the water level up prevents those sudden "I need food, and I need it now" moments?

I definately seems to regulate my appetite. I'm not so sure it reduces it as some say, but it definately keeps it at bay. I've also found that I have to drink quite a bit during meals. I really keep wait-staff busy at restaurants. My favorite is when they leave a pitcher of water and I end up drinking almost all of it.

I know it's good for me, but sometimes it's nice to hear why it's good for me.

Thanks for the responses.
