Default Help I can't stop eating

I have been cycling my calories for a couple of weeks and all was going good until this week. I have been eating eating and then eating some more. The majority of it has been clean but supper really blows my diet to pieces. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

I should add that most of my never ending eating comes between 8-5 when I am at worked bored to death. That will be over in two weeks since I am switching jobs. Can't wait.

I have the opposite issue. At work, I can easily not eat. No matter how bored I am. At night, i crave food.

There are times when I actually have to time myself to not eat. I eat my meal or snack and then start counting the minutes until the next one. It's tough, I know.

Have you been dieting long?

I have a hell of a problem keeping out of all the food people bring. Any given day there could be bagels, chips, cookies, ice cream, cake, bread and all kinds of other shit that I don't need to eat. I just started calorie cycling about two weeks ago. I ate right at matience for about 2 months before that and did a ketosis diet for about 4 months before that. I want to lose some lard before I hit the beach in June and nibbling on all this crap that is laying around the office is not going to get me there.

Doesn't always help, but try chewing gum, brushing your teeth, mouthwash, etc. Anything to make your mouth feel clean. Then, you won't want to ruin that feeling.

Also, tell everyone you're dieting. That way, you feel like a failure when they see you eating their crap.

Don't know if this helps - seems too simple - but I find if I don't start on the junk everyone dumps at work it's a heck of a lot easier than just taking a little. Once I start it's harder to stop. Plus, maybe almonds or something healthy but filling might do the trick.

Yeah I know...probably not too helpful.

That's true for me. One little taste, and I'm screwed. Slippery slope.

How about taking two good sized apples to work. When you get that craving, eat an apple and down 8-10 oz. water first. Then see if you still want the crap. Works for me.

^^Hell yes. Water, and a shaker bottle with some protein. When that craving hits, slug some water and make a shake. The shake is usually so filling, and it fools me into thinking that since I'm having something sweet, I've already eaten enough (I have a wicked sweet tooth after meals). When you don't have healthy options available, you're screwed.

Best of luck!

yep preperation and planning beats boredom eating.

Start a daily log like Buk we shall shame you into saintly eating again as well. how often are you changing the calorie cycling? weekly? and what is your macro split?

Load on a carb heavy breakfast and this should abate some of the hunger

Bring good food to eat while you're at work. Like RH said a couple of apples would be good. Or a bag of baby carrots. A 16 oz bag is about 200 calories. That would fill you up.

We have this problem, every Wednesday is a freaking foodfest. Cookies, cakes, etc. Some of it is paid for by our social fund. One day I wandered by to get some hot water for tea and noticed that only 5 people were eating. I said "ya know, maybe if we had fruit and stuff more people would join you". They starting bringing in fruit....and the crowd increased. Yesterday we had one, there were 2 coffee cakes, soem yogurt, granola along with apples, oranges and melons.

Our food day is totally oppisite here. We have all kind of shit that I don't have a taste for unless like many of you I eat one damn cookie and then I am screwed. It is a very slippery slope indeed. I have some protein powder and some sugar free jello. I was thinking about bringing a tub of cottage cheese mixing in some jello with a splash of milk for my daily sweat tooth kicks in around 2:00pm every day. I could eat a couple of apples with the cc if needed. I guess i just need to use my imagination and plan ahead. I am cycling the calories daily. The break down is in my training log if anybody is intrested. Here is a typical day for me diet wise.

7am: Coffee and bannana
8:30: Oatmeal with scoop of pp, raisins, and some splenda
10 am: 3 egg whites + 6 slices of turkey
12pm: Salmon, baked chicken, fish, or steak with mixed veggies or spinach
2pm: 30 mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios, walnuts, pecans) or some sunflower seeds
4:45pm: cann of tuna or chicken, sliced turkey + raw veggies with a tbsp of vingrette dressing
7pm: This is where I have been blowing it lately. My wife gets some fast food every night on the way home from work. We put a stop to that today. I have all of the money in my checking account. It was her idea so hopefully it will work out. If it is up to me I eat chicken or homemade seafood gumbo, steak or chicken kabobs
10pm: cottage cheese, pp, with sugar free jello and milk mixed in

On higher calorie days I add in some more mixed nuts. olive oil, or some natural pb.

Let me know what you all think I could add or subtract. Thanks.

OK setting myself up hear for another lambasting but 30 nuts!!!! and way too heavy on the protein.

Think about what you can eat that will keep you fuller longer? 30 nuts is hardly going to do alot its calorie and fat dense. Better off going for something that will satiate your hunger but is lower in calories.

So if you had had carbs at 12 pm you would have felt fuller for longer. and then later in the afternoon you would have probably been ok with some more fruit.

Per the label on the nuts 28 whole nuts = 170 calories. I weigh 218 and the protein is around 225-250g per day. Any suggestions for lower calorie that will keep me fuller longer? I am trying to follow Adams diet as closly as possible so you are only supposed to eat one carb meal a day. What do you suggest man? Some whole wheat pasta with my lunch or some wheat bread? How many grams of protein? I at least want 1g per bodyweight if possible. Thanks for the help.

two appologies there 1) thought you were lighter and 2) didnt realise you were following a carb monitored diet but then thats why I dont prescribe to them shall butt out as have minimal knowledge in that regard as not something I prescribe to

No worries my man. The diet is going much better today. I added an orange with my afternoon snack so that seems to be helping.
