Default Fat loss with Vit C

Page 52 of Men's Health magazine April 2006

Fat-loss supplements may soon feature a new ingredient. People who take 500 mg of vit C daily burn 39% more fat during exercise than those who ingets only small amounts of the nurtient, according to a recent study by Arizona State University. "Low levels of vit C may impede your body's ability to use fat as energy," says author Carol Johnston, PhD. And chances are, most men could use more C. That's because the average guy consumes 102mg of the viamin daily, and his top source - OJ- contins just 82mg per 8oz serving. Worse, previous research shows that OJ loses up to 50 %of its vitamin C contest during processing and handling, and 2 percent more every day afterward. The best way to boost your intake? Try a supplemnt such a Buffered C 500 available at iherb.com ($6 for 110 500mg capusles).

OK. I'm left with plenty of questions after reading that. Is the result generalizable to the general public? I'd have to know more about the study. I don't think that it is a reason to change my supplements now because I'm taking a multiple vitamin with 125 of Vit C. Perhaps a reason to eat whole oranges as opposed to juice. I'm just skeptical because it just does not sound like a panacea.

Comments? What am I missing here?

Wasn't there a study a few years ago saying that vit c could help remove toxics out of fat, since when you start digging into fat the toxins have to go somewhere.

Notice the dosage though? I guarentee almost everyone here is getting well over 500mgs a day. The results came from resloving a deficency. To bad it wont help anyone who already gets enough Vit C.
