Default BCAA\'s what exactly is this

I see this metioned all the time when reading articles over at T-Nation. Can somebody tell me what this is and how and when should it be taken? I think it has something to do with amino acids or something.

It satands for Branched Chained Amino Acids. They are basically the building blocks of proteins. If your taking in a whey protein shake you most likely are getting all the BCAA's you need. Look on the side of the container and it should list which ones are in your shake. For some more info check out this link:

Thanks guys.

I currently use ON whey, malto & powder gatoraide in my pre & post workout drink, so that should take care of it then. Right?

It just seems like over at T-nation they talk about the pre/post shakes and also metion getting enough BCAA's other times. Of course ocassionaly they have been know to push Biotest products!

It's part of the Nutrient Timing line of thought. Berardi added in an extra 5 gms. of BCAA's to Surge based on the Nutrient Timing authors. I believe he has seen some studies showing it helped.

ON has them in there so I wouldn't worry about it.

Very well put. I think ON's has the best ration of BCAA's per serving. Truly the best whey out there.

You're good. ON has 5g of BCAAs in a 70cc scoop.
