"Kashi" is just a brand that is recognized as promoting "healthy" foods. They pride themselves on their multi-grain stuff and their use of non-refined ingredients, but IMO a lot of it is just overprocessed crap anyway. If you're getting true oatmeal, the only ingredient should be oats. Therefore I don't really think it matters whether they're from Kashi, Quaker, or Sam's Club, unless you're worried about organic. In fact, I think I saw LD say in another thread that Oats from Natural Foods stores are even cheaper than the packaged stuff, in which case I'd say go with those anyway.

Yeah, they're sort of the New Age Kellogg's. They just don't have cartoon characters to promote the products.

The Kashi Go-Lean High Protein Crunch cereal is pretty good, I'll admit, and it's fairly decent, nutrition-wise.

I had two boxes of the GoLean Crunch. Loved it, ate it with strawberries in the morning, but couldn't deal with the after effects. That's waaaaay to much fiber to start my day out. Too bad, I really liked the stuff.

Freak. Oatmeal kicks ass!

I just wasn't sure waht he meant by it was high carb, I mean it's a cereal so they are all pretty high carb. Is Kashi higher than usual?

Go Lean Crunch is sweetened and has a lot of different carb-heavy ingredients. I think larrabee was saying that it has a fair bit of sweeteners and other quick-digesting carbs in it. Not completely sure, though.

Maybe, definetely something that should be clarified. A calorie might not be a calorie, largely because a carb isn't a carb!

I live in Milwaukee and we have a local company called "Natural Ovens Bakery" that has a product called "Great Granola." The ingredients are simple: Rolled Oats, Honey, Almonds, Ground Flaxseed, Sunflower Oil, Oat Fiber, Sunflower Seeds, Sesame Seeds, Coconut Flakes, Vanilla, Cinnamon. They do mail order. I have this company called Quaker and they have this great breakfast cereal! It's ingredients are simple: Rolled Oats.

In all seriousness though, I expected the honey in that to jack the sugar carbs through the roof, but it dosen't appear to do that. It has more fibre tban sugar, as well as plenty of good fats. Looks like a pretty decent granola choice.
