Default Whey energy drink: when & how much?

i can't stand whey in juice, etc, only in skim milk. so my shake's been consisting of 1 cup milk and 1 scoop whey -- or 2 fat grams, 16 carbs, 31 protein, i think. sometimes i had carnation instant breakfast, to bring me up to 24 carb and 40 protein. in any case, i always add a teaspoon of creatine.

First -- is this drink doing me any good, with the macronutrients listed?
Second -- assuming it is, I've been drinking 1 cup of it before my workout and 1 cup after, so the macronutrients above I guess you could double. Should I add a third cup, for during the workout? I'd rather not unless it's really beneficial.
Third -- Do I drink this potion during my off non-exercise days or not? and, if not, should i take creatine daily anyway?

I guess that's it. thanks for any help you can offer!

Is this for pre/during workout shake? have you ever tried a nice shake with some fruit punch whet and fruit punch gatorade powder? That may be what you are looking for. I find that the shake gives me a nice sustained energy throughout my workout.

This is what I do:
1 scoop fruit punch whey
30 grams carbs from fruit punch gatorade powder
5g creatine

-mix in 12-14 oz of water
-Drink half 15 minutes before hitting the weights and sip the rest throughout the workout.
-After the workout I do same thing but with only 20 grams carbs.

Ditch the carnation instant breakfast. Thats not the best thing to have right before a workout.

Also it is fine to take in a serving of creatine everyday. On off days from the gym just have it with breakfast in some water.

thanks for your response kevin. i guess my question had two parts:
1/ in general, do you only drink these shakes on workout days?
2/ how do my particular combo look?
anyway, i am going to give yours a try -- though i've never been particularly fond of fruit-punch anything.
cheers,
linter

Another combo that is popular is Vanilla Whey with Orange gatorade powder.

Look for the gatorade powder at your local Walmart or at a Bj's or Sam's club.
