Default Greens Plus

I'm trying to add more vegetables to my diet but have difficulty when I travel. I've read Berardi endorse Greens Plus when he travels. Does anyone have any experience with this supp? Any concerns? How does it taste? JB mentions adding to protein shakes - any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Ted

I'm currently trying a greens powder. I eat a fair amount of vegetables, but as a College student I know they aren't very good quality (dining hall), and are lacking in nutrients. Plus I've seen Berardi's endorsement, and thought I would look into it.

It tastes really bad. I can't fully explain it, but grass clippings and moss blended together is the best comparison I can come up with. I didn't vomit, but I have a REALLY strong stomach. I mix it with as little water as it takes to dissolve it, and chug it as quickly as possible. Mixing with a protein shake didn't help much at all.

I would HIGHLY suggest that if you can add more good quality organic fruits & veggies into your diet, definitely do it. The stuff is pretty vile. It is also pretty expensive IMO.

multis don't provide the phytonutrients that plants contain. greens plus is essencially like eating a bunch of veggies.

I use the berry flavoured Greens +, mix it with apple juice first thing in the morning on a empty stomach. No gagging at all, very easy to drink.

I totally understand Smaniac, the plain stuff with water certainly does like grass clippings and moss. It's kinda funny watching my girlfriend taking her Greens+. She still uses the regular stuff with water but has to plug her nose when she's downing it.

No way.

They make it berry flavored?! Where do you get it?

Also, its not cheap, so I'm wondering if you think its worth the investment?

I actually mixed the berry flavored kind w/ cottage cheese. Tastes pretty darn good actually. It lets me sneak another serving of veggies into my pre-bed snack of nuts+cc.

Looks like a knock-off. I wasn't able to find the ingredients for that one so i'm not sure if it's the same type of supplement.

I honestly don't know how it could be a knock off with the EXACT same name. That would be like selling a knock off of duracel batteries named...duracel.

The container says, "new look" on it though. So that may be why it looks different.

Most greens formulas are pretty close to the same thing. The canadian Greens+ is nothing special and I would say their are better products out their.

IE: less fillers like fiber or fat powders or useless stuff like licorice extract.

Greens plus. Simply put it tastes so bad it has to be good for you...

But seriously it is worth just chuging the stuff down for all the benifits you get from it (just read any Berardi material and about his "Super Shake"). I take a serving everynight with my low carb grow bwfore bed.

Is the taste so bad that even chocolate Grow tastes bad mixed with it?

I've been thinking of mixing some into my shakes, but not if it's nasty. I'll just keep taking my baggies of veggies, if that's the case.

Yes even with the chocolate Grow. Just do it seperately save the grow for last.

Do greens powders help at all with building muscle, or is it more for general health purposes?

It's a decent substitute for veggies, if you aren't eating your veggies. Veggies help with your body's PH balance, lowering blood acid levels. High levels of acid (blood acidosis) can lead to all sorts of things, like inflammation, osteoporosis, etc.

Here's a good article. http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/bases.htm
