Default Gourmet Nutrition Denver Omlette nutritional stats not adding up?

I purchased Gourmet Nutrition a while back and I really enjoy the material in the book as well as the recipes.

My favorite breakfast recipe is the denver omlette. It's listed as having the follow nutritional information:

Calories: 477, Fat: 14, Carbs: 11, Protien: 71

When I plug all the ingredients into FitDay, this is the nutritional information:

Calories: 389, Fat: 11, Carbs: 14, Protien: 54

I checked the package labels vs what FitDay has listed for the ingredients and they're pretty close.

Am I missing something on adding up these ingredients? Hehe, is this some sort of super food that is somehow greater than the sum of it's parts? Is FitDay way off or is the recipe in GN way off?

Here is how FitDay calculates it: http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/P ublicJourn...th=1&Day=20

Hi Obsolete,

Glad you're enjoying the book!

It looks like the main difference is the amount of turkey ham you're using. The book calls for 4 oz, and you're using 1 oz. Also, if you enter 1 cup of egg whites, instead of '6 egg whites' you'll probably get more protein (egg sizes vary, so I like to measure the whites).

Yeah, the turkey ham isn't being displayed right... it should be reading as 4, 1 oz slices.

Hrm... I went back and compared what fitday has for 6 eggs whites vs 1 cup of egg whites and the 1 cup is actually showing less carlories, protien etc. I dunno... a little confused as to differences. Is the difference significant you think? Or is it something I can just write off as a day to day type variance?

Thanks for the info though Johnka!!

Right now it's showing 1oz is 4 slices. Try plugging in 16 slices and see what you get

It's displaying funny in the public profile dealio thing.

1, 1 oz slice is:

Cals: 36, Fat: 1 Carbs: 0, Protien: 5

4, 1 oz slices are:

Cals: 145, Fat: 6, Carbs: 0, Protien: 21

Plug it in yourself.
