my daily diet- opinions please
I've been eating the same thing everyday for a few weeks and I like eating like that. Routine is good. If there is something that you would do different let me know as i don't want to be eating the wrong thing all the time.
Pre workout meal:
Protein shake with banana and milk
Meal 1 (post workout):
Omelet (3 eggs, shallots, chicken or bacon, little bit of cheese)
orange
Meal 2:
Yoghurt with half an apple and handful of mixed berries
Meal 3:
Small chicken breast with salad (pineapple, beetroot, cucumber, cheese)
Meal 4:
half can of tuna with apple
Meal 5:
steak sandwich (whole wheat bread)
approx 2200 calories.
Thanks.

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
I'm using this eating plan to cut. Currently 206lbs @ 19%BF.
Based this diet on JB's 7 Habits as well as food Adam suggests.
My workout is from the New rules of lifting.
Hope thats everything.
Cheers

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
IMO way too low on the carbs and too high in fat. Would reduce some of the protein sources

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
Although my initial thought wasn't "low on carbs", it amounts to the same thing.
Way low on veggies.
and no oatmeal? hell I'd go nuts!

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
yep nothing but protein to fuel the exercise which means the body has to convert which a) is inefficient and b) means that as well as this source it will also look to glycogen and potentialy deplete muscle.........not what you are looking to achieve

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
1st off that really doesn't look like 2200 kcals to me but i imagine you checked it so maybe it is.
I think you can surely eat more PWO, especially considering you workout in the morning. Take advantage of that time to get more carbs in if you like. Then eat more fruit/veggies throughout the day with your good protein choices. Not bad, but i would really check the total PRO and kcal.

Is it working?
I think people get too wrapped up in the minutia. You clearly aren't eating a lot of unhealthy crap, so by that respect it's great. If you feel you have enough energy, are progressing toward your goals, and don't have a problem complying with your plan, then you are way ahead of a lot of people.
If you don't think its working, make a change and assess from there. When you get to a point where you feel like you need to change, the first things I would look at are adding more vegetables and increasing carbs around the workout.

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
Ok so I'll give you my oatmeal comment is just a personal thing, but I still think he needs more veggies.
He has carbs in there: bread, shallots, milk, fruits etc. There is just no green veggies to speak of.

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
Move the whole wheat bread to your post-workout meal. You need the carbs there. Have the steak with a good salad (spinach, cucumber, tomato, carrots and a couple of tabelspoons of olive oil).
Eat the whole apple in meal #2. Eat the whole can of tuna in meal #4.

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
More veggies. 7 Habits. EVERY meal...
For best results, make your pwo meal the high carb, low fat meal (lf tuna sandwich, perhaps).
Other than that, if it's working, keep up the good work!
Too few carbs? Don't think so...
banana and milk
orange
Yoghurt with half an apple and handful of mixed berries
salad (pineapple, beetroot, cucumber)
apple
whole wheat bread
It's more fruit and dairy than I'd eat while cutting, but that's just because I'm more satisfied by veggies, so I take my calories there, instead.
Also, while the shake, pre-workout, sounds tasty, it might not really be doing what you think it is. Fruit and milk don't raise blood sugar like you'd want in a workout drink. You'd be better off having the omelette early and then sipping a traditional PWO drink (malto/dextrose/whey or gatorade/whey) during and after the workout.

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
Maybe have just 1 whole egg with additional egg whites. They're sold in liquid pasturized form.. I buy the brand : "Simply Egg Whites"

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
If I cut the cheese I'd drop the fat by about half.
There is 130g of carbs in there. I prefer fruit and salad to veges but will add some greens in there.
Will make the changes ppl suggested and put my major carbs PWO.
It is working at the moment but everything works when its new.
Thanks

Re: my daily diet- opinions please
I don't have a problem with the fruit, as long as you're losing the fat you want. Just don't use fruit PWO, you want normal carbs that will bump your blood sugar and insulin then. Fruit doesn't do it that much.
I always feel badly commenting on people's diets when they already eat well. You do. You can fine tune, just realize that you're way above the curve already.
