ODB, Kaiser, Bmphter and Sarah all went out this morning. I came to work. I'm sure they'll be posting later tonight. Bitches.

Triple bitches...it's almost 9 p.m. and they aren't back and no one has called. They are probably eating and drinking somewhere and having too much fun to come home. Maybe they'll stay and ride tomorrow. Bitches

Non-bitches! I'm home and had a blast! We're so late because I'm a friggin idiot. See, what had happened was we parked my truck at the "finish" end and took ODBs ride to the beginning. When we got to the finish I realized that my keys were in ODBs ride. Big oops! We did eventually find someone to shuttle us back to the other end and it only cost $30. Thanks to Kaiser for pitching in and being a super guy to ride with. Hope you can make it back soon man & be safe.

Sorry I screwed up and got everyone home so late.
All I can say is...D'OH!
And um, where are the pics!?

Tell your story walkin'. Those bikes didn't even look dirty to me. I know I heard disco music in the background when I called. If I hadn't found a tick crawling on me this morning I wouldn't believe you at all. Bitches. It's a good thing you all are so cute.

You should have seen our sad puppy-dog faces as we asked for a ride.
I have a couple of picts that I'll get up tonight. Kaiser has some too but I don't know when he'll surface. I dropped him off at his hotel at 11:00 last night and he had 6:30 flight this morning.

I care about your feelings Fish. I was caring about my own yesterday though. Come ride and I promise I'll move everything around so I can go this time. ODB can stay home, cook and take care of the kids. HA We should meet in Alabama in the middle to ride oak mountain. Maybe I haven't ridden enough of the womble to be objective but from what I do know, Oak Mtn. Rules. Just my humble opinion.
beautiful scenery babe, wish I could see Kaiser's face though, I wanna see the grin
I'm just sorry you guys left and came home so late that I never got to cook for you. Hey, I offered oatmeal with honey and walnuts, eggs and bacon but satellite cafe beat me out? Next time.

Sarah on the Trail -

Sorry they are a bit fuzzy but they were moving. Nothing like riding singletrack at close to 20 mph!!
So that's why there are no pictures of me huh? I must have been going too fast to show up!

Still grinnin' right now. Aaron, Sarah, and Joe: I love you guys, man! No bitches here. Fish, we rode all day long and didn't see a single other cyclist. How's that for incredible? The weather was PERFECT (I mean, PERFECT) and so was the comraderie.
Trailhead scenery:
Sarah makes sure we have enough natural fruits for the ride. Here she makes sure Aaron gets his pre-ride nutrition:
Womble singletrack.
I stayed behind Sarah on the descents because the girl knows how to go downhill fast. Marla Streb is retiring - might be a spot for an up-and comer.
The man and adventure racing myth, ODB (Joe) and his special endurance forumula raspberry tea flavored water on [backpack] tap.
Sarah, Aaron, and Joe provided a lunch that tasted great on top of Mallard Mountain: PB&J, fruit, Pringles, beef jerky. Kaiser, too weak and slow to carry anything up the mountain in his pack, is eternally grateful. Also to Sarah for showing him that filling up his water bladder from a stream is not a passive activity.
Sarah still looks beautifully 'easy, breezy, and covergirlish' at the end of the long hard ride. And smells good (don't worry Sarah, that was me during the goodbye hug). But she's sweating some kind of greenish grayish stuff out!
Finally super-props go out to JP, who trusted me to ride his C'dale Scalpel with the lefty fork. I only fell down one mountainside JP, and the bike only went down about 12 feet - less than half of what I did. It performed flawlessly. It is made to be ridden!
Very cool, now I want to take the Trek off road! No cool trails close to my house.
Who woulda thought buying a bike would push me even further towards a car...
Damn it.

Sarah had a nice Specialized and, as mentioned, I was riding JPs Cannondale Scalpel. But Aaron had us all beat: Santa Cruz Blur. Matte black finish. Damn. Sweet. I kept stroking the frame, but I afraid that he would say I could do that to his wife, but to keep my hand off of his bike.

I don't know JP, according to ODB's video footage, it was slightly more than 12 feet.

That is absolutely AWESOME! It looks like you guys had a great time. Oatmeal and riding with ODBsGirl? Next year, I'll take a few extra days when I come down!!!!
You know I miss cooking for Mr and Mrs Pie. I had to leave for work just a little earlier than you guys wanted to leave so...next time though. You too Kaiser and Fish. Keep a look out for cheap airfare and come ride again. I promise to feed you like the good southern girl I am.
