Ok boys and girls, no pics of the new bike yet, but I did go and get it. It fits pretty good, pretty comfortable.

I picked up a new helmet, lock, bottle, and gloves as well as the bike. Few more things I need to buy for it, but it is a great start.

Today started with some Turbulence training. Yeah Sumo Squats and step-ups. and then a few minutes of HIIT this morning. Little bit of a walk at lunch and then...the bike!

So I got on that thing at the cycle shop and road along the river and then headed north. Overall the first ride was a little shaky to start, but by the end was pretty cool. Managed to conquer all the hills on the way, although there wasn't anything hugely long.

In the end looking at our cycle path map of Calgary I figure I logged about 21km in just over an hour. Not to bad if I do say so myself.

I don't anticipate a more direct route to work taking me very long at all since it is supposed to clock in at about 7km.

Og.

P.S. Stairs suck right now.

Welcome to the world of being a biker. Enjoy all the benefits and, most of all, enjoy the ride.

Took the bike out to the local hardware store (cantire if your canadian) and picked up a computer, back rack, repair kit and back rack bag. Yeah so now if I get a flat I can repait it and not be able to re-inflate it because I didn't buy a stupid pump. I knew I would forget something. Fortunately cantire is only about 10-15 minutes by bike from my house. Yay.

Then I came home and installed everything, set up the trip computer and away I went, plotted a possible course to and from work. Ok the one I used to get home is better. Either way: entire trip 38.8km. Avg speed 19.2km/h. It was way higher but man the headwind home had be cursing the heavens, un-relenting for probably 45 minutes of the way home. Entire trip took 2 hours on the road.

I am now officially statving. Food intake this morning was a shitty muffin at like 6am, and then eggs and oatmeal at around 9. a protein shake with skim milk around 12, and then I went riding. I had a little snacky and a little coffee half way through, but nope need more.

Og.

Co2 is another way to go...much lighter than a pump, if that's a concern.
