...anybody know what kind/amount of foods are appropriate for longer rides (say 25-50 miles). Obviously, lots of water, and I see some evidence for moderate to high GI carbs (fig newtons, sports drinks, GU). Any thoughts or links that might be helpful are, of course, greatly appreciated.

In my endurance races (6-36 hours) I find that I eat whatever I can like pb&j's, candy bars, or other junk foods. For shorter training (2-3 hours) a clif bar or some gel usually works for me.
