Question: Does anyone have a tip for better breathing or breathing exercises for cycling? Is it the summer heat/air? I'm finding myself gasping for air in places along the ride that I haven't before.

Hmm, here's a few random suggestions:

-try to slow your breathing down and take deeper (from the diaphragm) breaths.
-keeps your arms wide so your shoulders are open allowing for better breathing.
-in general, if you are winded, shift to a slower (harder) gear and grind more. If your legs are tired, switch to an easier gear and spin more.

-you're saying that you're gasping for air along what seems to be a regular route. Is it windy? Are your tires inflated? Have you been pushing harder/riding faster than usual up to that point? These can all affect the way you feel when you ride, esp. if you are pushing the envelope.

Give these tips a try and see if they help and sorry for the delay in reply. I didn't see this post earlier.
