Default Cheap Road Bike

My wife completed her first tri this past Saturday and did an excellent job. Her only problem is she is using a mountain bike. We're signed up for tri next month with a 14 mile ride and she is going to need a road bike. She doesn't want us to spend much money on it and I have not been able to find a used one that would fit? I found this one on Amazon, but I'm worried it will end up just being a piece of crap since it's not a big bike manufacturer. http://www.amazon.com/GMC-Denali-Wom...0526046&sr=1-2

Any thoughts?

I have the men's version (bought it at Walmart) and it's a decent bike for the price I guess. The biggest thing about it is that it's freaking heavy, probably 40 pounds. Also, the brakes suck. I use it primarily for biking errands in the few miles around where I live. It's a beast to pedal up hills, given its weight and the flat pedals.

Craigs List, local, take a biker with a lot of experience for evaluation and fit, there are always good deals

Unluckily I have had 0 luck with Craigslist. I guess my area isn't very popular for cycling, so we haven't had much luck. Also I'm trying to get it before our next tri in the middle of September, so that doesn't help matters.
