Default Bike vs. Car wreck story?

I knew it was only a matter of time...

Riding down bike lane on commute to work this morning...car pulls right in front of me. Ended up on hood of car then the pavement.

No major injuries: scraped chin, knee, and elbow...sore schin. - tacoed front tire.

So many close calls this is the first collision. I am sure there are some good stories out there of car vs. bike events.

AZ!

Does a chipmunk vs bike count??

I was riding my mountain bike a few summers ago on the trails in the forest preserve outside Chicago. As I was cruising along at a good pace with my Ipod blasting, I spotted a chipmunk trying to cross the path about 20 ft ahead of me.

As I approached Mr. Munk, I kept saying to myself, "don't do it...don't cross"..but he went anyway, and seemed to have made it across, but suddenly decided to GO BACK all the way to the other side of the trail! Suddenly Chip is in my front spokes, spinning around before releasing onto my leg and up to my knee and my bike shorts!

By now I am freaking out with this guy latching on to my leg! In the middle of the forest preserves, deep in the trails, I am screaimg and jumping off my bike while tring to kick him off my leg! I am sure all the other criters were laughing seeing and hearing this circus act, but I didnt see the amusement in it, quite yet!

When my "new friend" and I departed our seperate ways, I finally was able to laugh, despite the cut/bite on my leg! Then, since I was going through treatment for CML (leukemia) I thought it might be wise to call my oncologist to fill him in! When I left a message with his nurse, I told her it was the "usual encounter with a chipmunk"!

Needless to say, my doc called me back right away...and we both laughed through the story before I went in for a tetanus shot!

Thanks for letting me share this silly-not-a-car-vs-bike story! Hope to hear more of these collisions as well!

'bout the closest I came to disaster was riding through a state park one evening, and on through a herd of skunks (actually momma plus an uncountable number of little ones) - but no doubt not so traumatic as have a chipmunk, looking for ... what .. crawling up your shorts. Yikes!

The best I have is almost being sideswiped by numerous Metro buses while riding in Washington, DC.

And rednecks throwing beer bottles from their rotting pickups while riding near my parents' home in the rural, far suburbs of Indianapolis.
