Default Tour of California

The Tour of California is the first sign that spring is getting closer.

From the prologue it looks like Lance is in decent form, then again no one is in good form this time of the year. It still should be a fun race to watch with so many of the previous dopers back in action.

We may go watch a stage in person next weekend.

Did Lance's legs look bigger than 3 years ago or is that just me? Blame it on the damn kettlebells.

Default Tour of CA / Lance

Where in CA is this held?

I have followed Lance for a number of years and thought about trying to go to France this year. (If he races)

The question I have is how fun will that be to watch a race that the riders go by at 30/40 miles per hour and you are done?

Have you ever gone to a race? Do you move to other locations during the day to see the riders again? Do you have a portable TV with you?
I just don't know at all what to expect from a bike race...please educate me.

Fish told me you can just drive alongside the riders during the race.

I think it just may be the new colors he's sporting. All cyclists have huge quads.

Rancho Bernardo to Escondido? I think I might go watch that, as I can no kidding easily bike to RB from home.

That would.

We'll have to drive either way. Maybe the time trial in Solvang (set of the film Sideways) or the next day's stage from Santa Clarita to Pasadena and visit Alwyn & Dos at the same time.

Wonder if they are gonna run into snow on the mt portion stage 7. 3 feet in the past 5 days! I'm going up there to snowboard tomorrow.

I've watched it everyday. I'm loving it. Levi looks strong, and Lance looks really strong as well. I love bike racing.

What a ride by Levi today! Zabriske did well too. It looks like Lance is getting closer to form and is on track. This has been a very entertaining tour this year.

Levi dropped the freaking hammer. What a stud. He needs to work on his finish line celebration, but whatever. Captain American rode like a stud too, I love Zabriske. Lance looked good, not too bad for an old guy. I about shat myself when they said Rodgers was 2:11 up on the first split. What a TT.

I had the same reaction!

On a separate note, it looks like Cavendish is going to be a sprinting stud again this year. When he gets a decent lead out he is unstoppable. He totally smoked Boonen on the last stage.

I can't believe DZ and Rogers didn't attack today. Astana has that peloton by the onions, big time. Levi rode a great race, so stoked for cycling season. I'm calling Lance to win the Giro, and Alberto to win the TdF for an Astana sweep. They'll probably have Popovich win the Vuelta just to make sure. They are going to be a TOUGH team to beat this year...

Astana has a very strong team. I agree with your predictions, but I doubt Popo can win the Vuelta. He seems to be more of a super domestique than a winner.

Great race especially for this early in the season. Props to Levi! Not sure if DZ and Rogers had the legs to do any more this race. Should be a fun season!

Was that you in the green thong running up the climb?

What's with all the naked fat guys all over the climbs? You'd think being such ardent fans they'd be in a little better condition...

Great race and yeah, Astana looks to have a promising season.

Well, I won't admit to anything if you're all judgmental and shit.

I admit, I didn't attend as I had other stuff going on at the time. Of course, it was all the talk at my Saturday morning bike ride in La Jolla. And unsurprisingly it seemed like the number of recreational riders out on the roads of San Diego County tripled in preparation for the stage.
