Oh she is definitely steel. Columbus Genius tubing to be exact. Top of the line in her day.
I wish she was full Record. The guy who sold it to me had 8 speed record on it....but I didn't like the feel of the hoods at all. And he wanted too much with the Campy bits on it. So i opted to purchase just the frame and bastardize it with all my Shimano bits. A mix of Dura Ace and Ultegra. They guy who sold it........he calls me a douche because of said bastardization.
I have another guy who wants to unload an more recent Record group for 1,200, but I just can't get that much scratch for my group. So I can't make it happen.
This bike would be perfect if I could dress with Record or Chorus....but I can't afford it.
I do love this bike. The rumor is all the pin stripping is paint. NOT STICKERS!!!!
The chrome lugs are beautiful. I wish the BB lug and the seat tube/top tube lug were chrome too...but I'm not really complaining.
That bike deserves a full Record carbon gruppo, even if you have to buy it one piece at a time and it takes ten years.

By the time I realized how nice it was this morning it was too late, the wind had come up and I wimped out. Should have gone out anyway, even if it was just a few miles.
Hopefully you got to enjoy the new ride.

Yes they spun. A little 15mile installation lap. Need to do a little tweaking, as I am only getting the 4 smallest cogs while in the big ring, and only the 5 largest cogs, while in the small front ring, without a considerable amount of rubbing on the front mech.
While I realize those values are logical for normal use and optimal chain line, they are not practical when someone launches an attack. Jumping into or out of the big ring on an acceleration isn't a good idea in my opinion. I'd like to have more gears available to both front rings.
It was a beautiful day for a ride. I over dressed...so I was on the warm side. The bike is fantastic. It feels quicker and lighter than the older paramount. It feels like a faster steering geometry as well. Probably a little racier geometry is my guess. I am looking forward to finding out how much she weighs. Oh, and the ride quality is crazy butter smooth. I was surprised at how nicely it rides, particularly when I am coming from another steel bike....just not as nice a steel i'm guessing. If I am required to log a complaint.....it's that the BB area is a little flexy. Probably due to my new, massive quads.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with it. My first owned road bike!!!
I love steel. I am just finishing having a steel frame made for me, local (Providence, RI) shop, CircleACycles.
Its all done, now I just have to get to their shop and clean parts as they come off my old bike to transfer with him to the new one. I did get a new stem, headset and handlebar, though. The parts I'm moving over are Ultegra.
Even though I have a steel specialized allez, I missed the classic geometry and (the look of the) lugs of my older steel bike that got stolen. And when I got a nice bonus at the end of last year, I decided to go for it. I could have gotten a steel frame from one of the Italian giants for pretty much the same cost, but I thought it would be fun to go the custom route and support a local frame-builder.
Its made from Dedacciai Zero.
The guy who built it up, put together some pictures of the process:

WOW!! That is just beautiful. Fantastic. Amazing. You made the right decision. I would love to some day have a similar experience. Something custom with an attention to detail in the ball park of that frame.
Very well done. I can't wait to see pics of her built up.
Building her up on Friday; taking my first ride on her next day as the temps are finally supposed to get above 40 degress, which seems to be minimum temp for enjoyable riding.
Wow, gorgeous ride Ryan. Especially the work on the headset and fork.
Il Campionissimo. I didn't know he had a bike line in his name.
And a respected approval arrives. Thanks mang. I am one lucky, patient, persistent person.
It say's Il Campionissimo on it somewhere. I think on the top tube near the saddle.....or on the other side of the top tube, opposite the picture I took.
It's the high-end road component group from Campagnolo, equivalent to Shimano's Dura-ace, but cooler.

So I use to bike a lot back in the day and I had that same bike in blue. One day I was ridding and I got hit by a car and the frame is now mangled. It is now hanging in my weight room on the wall
anyways its a nice bike and you are going to love it. The ride is so smooth

Mark,
Good things come to those who wait. Just saw this on my local MTB forum this morning. Trigger has been pulled. Now it's time to unload all my dura ace and ultegra bits. And then get a game plan together on a new campy compatible wheelset.
