Default So, I got a new mountain bike...

...but I haven't ridden it (or taken it home) yet. Silly picked me out a new Giant Anthem 0. Pretty sweet specs too;

fork Fox 32 F80RL, 80mm travel
shock Fox Float RP23
bars RaceFace Next low rise, 31.8mm
stem Race Face Deus XC, 31.8mm
seatpost Race Face Deus XC, 350x30.9
shifters SRAM X.0 trigger
front derailleur Shimano XT
rear derailleur SRAM X.0, short cage
brakes Avid Juicy Ultimate Disc 160F/160R
cassette Shimano XTR 11-34T, 9-speed
chain Shimano HG-73
cranks RaceFace Deus, 22/32/44
wheelset Mavic CrossMax SL
tires Michelin XC Dry2, 26x2.0 folding

It ended up pretty light for an XL too (my Blur is in the low 30s); 25 pounds on the dot (bike shop digital scale) after we added the pedals (Wellgo MG-1), an Arundel bottle cage and made a few 'adjustments' from the factory spec. Nothing serious really; ditched the tubes for some Stan's sealant, and swapped the stock saddle to a Ti railed Ithys Gove she found me. I've yet to add a computer, so that will add a negligent amount, but considering I could drop a quarter pound just by putting on some eggbeaters I am SUPER stoked. The picture is just Giants stock photo, but it pretty much tells the tale. I'll let you all know how it rides soon. From what I've heard, the Blur will have some serious competition.

Nice ride!

I love the geometry of my Giant & am thinking of a new machine in the coming year...gotta keep this in mind.

It's just like my NRS only with improved components, updated geometry, lighter weight...crap. Now I'll never keep up!

I'm right there with ya Joe! I rode one at Giant Maestro school last month and knew it was the ride for Aaron. With the vertical wheel path suspension, versus the Blur's S curve, it actually climbs over uphill obstacles for you-I felt it!

Whoa! You mean I'll actually get help climbing; that will be cool. Depending on the EPO & HGH all this time is getting a bit tiresome.

I would share, but I'm not sure you can handle it. It take a real man to chase the dragon silly girl. Oh, and your tires are too light so they might not hold up to the heat!

I got to witness him take that new bike about 2 feet off the ground on an Arkansas State Park trail yesterday. I hopefully caught it on my helmet cam.

Don't forget you also got to witness that bike dumping me on my face in the dirt too!

I'm so jealous.

Not so much about the face in the dirt part, although it's all good times.

Nice wheels Aaron! I've never ridden a Giant. I know Joe loves his.

My left hip is in a lot better condition. I did a light ride last week (24 miles at a mild pace, all road) and felt pretty good. I may slowly start stepping it up.

Sarah, do you still work at Chainwheel? I may need to take my bike in to get it serviced. I haven't ridden since I last brought it in but I noticed it still does a lot of ghost shifting. I want to get a set of hybrid tubeless tires and a new computer too. Oh, and new grips, and my right break still needs to be bled. I should have brought it back right away, but I got busy and let too much time go by.

Maybe I'll test drive one of those Giants.

I wasn't going to mention that. Of course, I only heard it and saw the aftermath. Don't know yet if we got it on film.

Depending on what we did to it, it may be cable stretch. Have you replaced the chain? Is the cassette worn, maybe. Just tell Bill or Kevin what's going on, and they'll fix it.

We have a demo fleet of the Anthem 1, which is the $2500 version of Aaron's ($4200 retail ) that you can take out.

Don't know yet. I'll hopefully see some footage tomorrow. For now, here is a nice air shot:

Obviously, Aaron likes to get high!
