Someone (*cough*Aaron*cough) and his spouse (*cough*Sarah*cough) did VERY well in their mtb races this weekend. Sounds like this could be the mtb version of the marriage of Levi Leipheimer and Odessa Gunn.
Thanks guys! Speaking of doing well, we were riding home yesterday (ask about her new road bike) and a carload of college guys yelled at us; GO LANCE...and MRS. LANCE!!! It was really funny. Guess we must have really been moving for them to confuse us with Mr. Armstrong and ???.
Cool....did you say new road bike? What happened to the Grail? Also, where were you two tonight during the CARP Cookout? Fun was had by all but we really would have appreciated a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong.

New road bike? New road bike?? Why don't I hear of these things?
This morning I rode a recovery ride with A USA Cycling Level 1 coach - he trained at least one Postie into his prime. Cool conversation the whole way - you KNOW I picked his brain!

Tim's doing well, Matt just got her an "extended demo" of a new Orbea Dama Race to get her pumped about selling Orbea's. Sweet ride, built with Campy Chorus, an FSA compact crankset, and some SWEET Rolf Vigor wheels. Minus pedals, I think it was a shade over 16lbs, not bad for something still running aero profile (read heavier) wheels. She had to work late tonight (over an hour) to fit someone on a new Juliana, so we were pretty much out.
Dunno that there is one really; it's been like all the other MTB races-about 8 miles of single track with 20 other guys. You guys (ODB family & others) should come out and do a race. Lots less people in all the other classes, and it's a bunch of fun. Everyone is super nice too. The race at Burns Park is coming up soon, and there is one at Cedar Glades too. This was the first race where I tried to start with the front of the pack instead of dead last though. Not sure it helped, right after the start I had to jump a berm to fight my way onto the single track. It's kinda funny seeing 8-10 people riding a trail that's only 1 bike wide!
About 4 miles in I started feeling really ill. My stomach had been a little upset since the start (nerves and Red Bull), but this time I had to slow down for the upcoming vomit. After another mile I started feeling a little better (less vomity), so I decided to chance a GU (expresso love) and an upping of the pace. I hung on for the rest of the race, and ended up 4th in my age class. Not too bad, I'm REALLY happy with how I did. I think if I could control my mind a little better; start and STAY at the front I could do a spot or two better. The way it is now, I'm real easy to back off and let others have the good line going into a corner or letting them back on the trail after a mishap. Well everyone except the guy I cyclocross hopped at the first (Springhill) race when he went down right in front of me.
Thanks -- I'm sure the dude at Springhill appreciated your cyclocross hopping skills. I know what you mean about letting others by, sometimes I'm overly conciderate during a race. I'd like to do a race but I am waaaaaaaayyyyy out of shape. I road a alittle over 7 miles last night at camp and it almost killed me! I went out way to hard for my current conditioning. Of course the hotdogs hamburgers and beer were great back at the CARP pad!

This race was a lot of fun. After Pigeon Roast, which I dubbed Bloody Sunday, I needed a confidence booster. At Pigeon Roast I crashed 4 times to come in 4th, how's that for irony . There were only 5 girls
Old Post, though, was a ton better. It had a bit of everything: climbs, descents, flat fast stuff, drop offs. It was bliss. I warmed up on the road, so I locked my front fork out. Well, I forgot to unlock it, and after leading for the first 1/2 mile, I hit a sandy spot and ate dirt. Then, I was last. I fought my way up to third of 9 girls and hung there the whole race. I did good, but I could do better, for sure. I'm hoping to break third at Mena, but to podium is great for my third ever mountain bike race. season tally: third place, fourth place, third place=2nd in series.
Thanks for the congrats guys and gals...This is totally new for me, but it is a freakin' blast. ODB and ODBG should definitely come out to the Burn's race the end of this month.
