So our club/team got a new sponsor this year - one that also sponsors a real pro team (and my company is a minor sponsor!) and we got our jerseys last week. After our Easter morning ride, the few that stuck around took a pic. Here's our new colors. I'm the dark one if you didn't already know.
Although we are only a 2nd year club, we are already our sponsors largest US club in our first season with them.
So far this year, I'm doing well. Last week, the B ride broke apart into 3 groups and I was in the front one with no problem at all keeping up. Sure, I'd love to move up to the A's but have a long way to go. Those guys (including a Cat1 racer) cruise at close to 30 mph.
Sweet!! Awesome pic Kaiser, great that You are doing so well. Nice new jerseys too. I don't know how you guys do it, I think I would collapse and die trying to ride at those kinds of speeds

"I don't mind at all," I said. "It doesn't matter who you are or what you look like so long as somebody loves you."
Good going on the sponsorship & cool that your enjoying the season so far.
What kinda training are you doing (aside from cycling)?

Thanks Jenn - you could go that fast with a little training. I'm still appalled at the distances and speeds I can do since I am NOT an endurance-blessed athlete. But the body is an incredibly adaptive thing.
Thanks Joe. Only another cyclist can appreciate goofy cycling kits.
Thanks BH!
Thanks Chris. Sorry haven't been in touch - very busy with the drink thing. Training = cycling 3X/week (5-6 hours total) and I was doing TT Fat Loss for Fusion, but then last week I got my rings. So my 'training' has consisted of upper body work on the rings 2-3 times a week for 15-20 mins at a time. I LOVE the rings. Use them for dips, pullups, inverted pushups, pushups.
One cool thing about our major sponsor - they are Colavita Olive Oil ('cooking light' is their slogan). Healthy and just up the nutrition alley of this forum, huh? On the back, our slogan says Eat Well, Ride Hard, Live Long.
I saw a new Southpark jersey the other day that had Cartman on the front and on the back in large letters it said, "You guys SUCK!" Very daring to wear.

Kaiser, yeah I bet your loving the rings. The one's Buk had at the Summit were great.
Make sure to post a vid of your first muscle-up!
oh, and look for some music in your (slow) mail.

Man... the club manager and his girl have the matching red warmers, but the rest of them didn't get them (or order them, or whatever).
Riding with a group of people you ride with every week is great. Especially when the ride has a purpose, and not always some all out testosterone driven race.
Today our long ride got cancelled (35 mph and driving rain). The odd thing was that I had to drive to a place along our route to drop off product for a race that our company was donating to. So I rode back along our route to see if any nutcases from the club were riding in the rain. None were - I would have given them food and drink and been a sag wagon for a bit if they had been out in those conditions. As it was, it was I am sick and wouldn't have rode anyway. Haven't been on a bike now in 7 days.
LOL Sarah. Yeah.... last week some riders hooked up with our group during a rainy ride and one guy said 'you guys are real brave to be wearing red shorts on a rainy day!' LOL!
So I did 2 back-to-back work days on Saturday and Sunday wondering if I might burn myself out. I took Monday off and only did 1 hour yesterday, but was HAULIN'! I bested my usual average mph by almost 1mph. There was no wind to help me either. And the best part was that my average HR was down just above my usual recovery pace and I didn't feel stressed or any burn during the ride at all. Wow.
Just to show you how crazy Chicago weather is, here are a couple of shots of some of us 2 weekends ago. June, and we have to wear arm and leg warmers. We were doing a rotating paceline and it was windy - hence the huge gaps in our formation.
More pics of the club here. Pics were taken in August, when I was in Alaska so I am not in them. The racers in our club did VERY well this season, our inaugural with Colavita. A lot of podium finishes for the 10 or so racers, including a first place in our regional collegiate criterium (among a couple of other 1st places as well). I'm pretty proud of this club!
