Default So I may be getting a new bike

Isn't that cool? Silly scoped out the Orbea Arin and the Orbea Orca for me. I was originally leaning toward the Arin because how many aluminum frames have you seen that are lighter than carbon and if you've met me, you know that all I'll ever be able to do is climb. It looks like the Orca won out though. I borrowed one from a friend at Chainwheel (thanks Johnny5) and took it out for a while. Talk about a SWEET bike. His was all kitted out with Campy carbon Record and a set of Mavic Ksyrium SLs. It was nice. This bike just goes when you tell it to and the carbon rides great.

Silly spec'd mine with with Ultregra 10, probably a 50-34 compact (not sure what crank yet), and I picked out a set of American Classic sprint 350 wheels. After all, what good is a cool carbon bike without a 1300 gram wheelset to go with it? It's not like I'm heavy enough to break them. We're off to Orbea tomorrow so I can pick out the frame I want. One of our friends that works there found a couple 'scratch & dent' frames in my size (just a paint scratch that they'll fix basically) and he's holding them for us. I'm looking at choosing between the new green paint scheme or last years team Jelly Belly paint scheme. The green is cool, just not really me so I really think the team colors may be the way to go.

Thanks silly for being a rocking wife!

One of my friends has the Orca. It's a nice ride, and he likes it a lot. At your weight, you could probably ride disks with no fear of damaging them!

I say go with the Jelly Belly colors - they are seriously hot.

Hey silly: can you still get me a loaner to ride on Sunday when I am down riding with you guys?

I did decide on the Jelly Belly colors. We decided to build with the FSA SLK Compact Megaexo carbon crankset, an Orbea Zeus Zeta bar, Ultegra 10 for everything else, a carbon Campy seatpost (either Chorus or Record, but we already had it), the American Classic Sprint 350s, and an ITM Visia stem. Everythings sitting at the shop now and I think we may try and go build it tonight. I'll get pics ASAP.

Pics - awesome.

We are having our first group meeting/party of the season this Friday and a few of us were talking to one of the group organizers and one guy asked "will there be porn at the party?" (which is at the LBS owner's house) and everyone knew he didn't mean female pornography, but rather bike porn. LOL

Can you tell I'm excited yet?? Looks like the buying may not stop. I also picked up a pair of Sidi Genius 5 Mesh Road shoes and a pair of Look Keo Classic pedals that may be switched for a pair of Look Keo Carbons before all is said and done. I also got a matching set of Arundel Dave-O bottle cages. I swapped the seatpost for an Orbea Zeus Zaga one too. We got the bike built tonight (thanks everyone) and I should be taking it on a shake down ride to the shop tomorrow so silly can fit me right. Once that's done I'm gonna cut the steerer tube down, mount the computer, replace the bar tape and retrim some of the cable housings. Current weight is just under 17 pounds (16.8 on the scale at Chainwheel) which isn't bad at all for a 60cm WITH saddle, pedals, etc installed and not built to be crazy light.

Thanks again silly for picking out all this super cool stuff for me, you're the best!!!!!
