Motorist attacks Courier

"the report goes as follows:
motorist throws food out of window. courier, disliking littering, picks up food and throws food back in car. motorist dumps coffee on courier. courier scratches car with key. road rage ensues.

the courier is female. i 'got away' with taking pics by just doing it openly. nobody noticed me because the focus is obviously on the altercation at hand.

i followed the motorist back to his car to photograph his license plate number. he proceeded to open his trunk, take out a baseball bat, and charge me. i walked away, and was one of only two witnesses to stay at the scene and give a statement to police."

I saw this on BJ and like I said there, this male motorist really showed his ass by beating up on a woman who was clearly smaller than him.

I think it took real - guts - on her part to throw that food back into his car. If it was me, and unless it landed on me, I think I would not have had the piece of mind to retaliate the way she did. But, eventually she had to defend herself.

I bet this will be an unpopular post.

Dunno if I can side with the courier. Looks to me like she was the one who escalated the situation, not the driver. She could have just yelled at the guy to pick up his garbage and then dialed the state provided 800 number to report the person for littering. She turned it into a physical personal act not the driver.

If she didn't want to get into a physical altercation, I don't think she should have started one.

Motorist litters, this is not good, happens everyday, and is not directed at anyone.

Courier picks up garbage and throws it back into the car, which is also not good, but a direct action aimed at an individual.

How did she think it was gonna play out?

The guy was pissed and emotional I am sure not thinking straight, which dosen't excuse his actions, but dosen't make him the devil either, it makes him human.

I think the courier was also in the wrong, more so than the driver.

I agree. Instead the headline should read "Cheeseburger wrappers leave Motorist and Courier in altercation." The Courier was in the wrong for 1) throwing the wrapper back into the vehicle, 2) keying the vehicle.

In my opinion, the keying of the car was the determining factor in the escalation of events. She should have thought her actions out a little better. However, the driver should not have physically attacked her, either. I'm sure he will spend time in jail, as she should have to pay to repaint his car.

Hopefuly altho this was assault and he did go too far they should way up the circumstances and pass minimal sentance.

Seriously wouldnt want to cross her on a bad day tho!

I agree that he should get sentenced, however, I also believe she should be charged for keying his car. She took something like littering and turned it into a nightmare. I wouldn't be afraid of her on a bad day. She's stupid, and part of me believes she deserved it.

Hmmm wonder if she could actualy get charges as well with a) common assault and b) vandalism of private property.

I think his charge would be worse but I think that they would take into account mitigating cicumstances
