Smile sheddie's fight back into living life to the full

sheddie's fight back into living life to the full

I have posted my starting photos and stats so thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself and put down my goals and workout plan.

My main motivation is that I am 54 years old and dont want to go into old age with creaking joints and a middle aged spread. I have been struggling with my weight for years now and am finally starting to see some results. I am determined to stay on track this time and love strength training and hate long boring cardio sessions! I have just completed the TT challenge where I lost 14 lbs and gained some much needed confidence and a wiser, healthier outlook on life.

I am going to use the NRL4W strength training workouts, I have just got the book so am reading it now and will start logging my workouts tomorrow.

My goals for the next 4 months are
  • to get down to 11 stone which means I need to lose 15 lbs. I eventually want to get down to 140lbs. It is actually more important to me to look good in my clothes so I am not going to stress about the scales; if my clothes are getting loose I will be happy and if I can get into a size 14 GAP jeans then I will be estatic!!! I haven't been able to do that for nearly 14 years
  • to feel good about myself no matter what weight I am.
  • to try to post everyday and to offer support to others as I know how much that support has helped me in the past and I really value the help offered to me, in fact I am pretty sure that has been the main reason I have been able to stay on track
  • to eat a balanced nutritious diet, most of the time, and to limit my wine consumption. I know I will stray occassionally, I'm human
  • to meditate more and to improve in every area of my life - mind, body and soul.
Today is a preparation day so I doubt if I will get a workout in but I will be taking the dog up the hill so both of us can do some interval training. The dog needs it as much as me so she will be on the challenge with me

Haha, mine too. I've recruited my son to join me in morning walks so we can get both of our dogs out at once. One needs it more than the other, but my little one gets feisty if he's not allowed to go on the walk with me.

Best of luck to ya in the challenge!

Unhappy end of week one - slow start for me

Thanks Shana

So far my dog seems to have lost more weight than me!!! It's time I took this challenge seriously

Did the first NRL4W workout and have had to rest for two days, I ended up walking like a duck it hurt so much........it can only get better - a new week and a new start. I must find the time to write down my food - boring but necessary.

I am finding it hard to get motivated at the moment so will go to the gym later today and see how I get on with session 2

Hello and welcome. The workouts won't hurt so much after a while. Writing down the food can be tedious, but it gets more interesting if you also start writing little notes about how your energy levels are from day to day, weight fluctuations, etc. so you can track patterns. Learning about nutrition more generally is also interesting, at least to me, and the food tracking ties into that. Good luck!

Evie, thanks for the welcome and the advice, it's a much more positive way to look at it

Food has been good so far today, plenty of protein, will try and log it all in fitday later but not going to stress too much as I will get there ......eventually

Did intervals with the dog up the hill which was a nice change from the stationary bike. Weights at the gym tomorrow.

It's all good

Thanks Val for stopping by my log. It has been a long road, sometimes bumpy ans sometimes smooth. But a good ride is not always a smooth one. The key is to stay the course even when it does not seem worth it, it is ALWAYS worth it when that size 14 ends up too big. LOL!!! Good luck and know I am here in the shadows rooting you on.

Just stopping by to say hi and see how you are doing on the challenge. The worst of the muscle pains should be over at least.

Take care.
