Default 2009 Women's Challenge...go time!

Hi everyone. My name is Tara and I stumbled upon this site and this challenge and I think it is something that I really need to keep me motivated to be consistent with my diet.

Training has always been easy for me to stay motivated. I love it! Other than cardio! I work with a personal trainer, a pro bodybuilder, 2-3 times a week. He has me training for a bodybuilding show in the spring. I have 28 weeks. I am a bit nervous, but I want to do this and look the best that I can!

3 years ago, I weighed about 110#. I was a cardio bunny and didn't know much about good nutrition..only about low calories!

Right now, I am sitting around 160#. In the next 4 months, I would like to lose15-20# and be consistent with my eating and exercise.

Right now, I am trying to stick to 1500 calories on workout days and 1300 on rest days. I am guilty of overindulging in nut butters and doing well all day, only to overeat at night, even if it is healthy stuff. I've just been eating too many calories..time to keep an accurate measure of what I"m eating and not slack off!!!

I will get pics and measurements up tonight. Right now, I'm off to the gym! Can't wait to get started and see what everyone else is up to!

Smile sheddie's fight back into living life to the full

I have posted my starting photos and stats so thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself and put down my goals and workout plan.

My main motivation is that I am 54 years old and dont want to go into old age with creaking joints and a middle aged spread. I have been struggling with my weight for years now and am finally starting to see some results. I am determined to stay on track this time and love strength training and hate long boring cardio sessions! I have just completed the TT challenge where I lost 14 lbs and gained some much needed confidence and a wiser, healthier outlook on life.

I am going to use the NRL4W strength training workouts, I have just got the book so am reading it now and will start logging my workouts tomorrow.

My goals for the next 4 months are
  • to get down to 11 stone which means I need to lose 15 lbs. I eventually want to get down to 140lbs. It is actually more important to me to look good in my clothes so I am not going to stress about the scales; if my clothes are getting loose I will be happy and if I can get into a size 14 GAP jeans then I will be estatic!!! I haven't been able to do that for nearly 14 years
  • to feel good about myself no matter what weight I am.
  • to try to post everyday and to offer support to others as I know how much that support has helped me in the past and I really value the help offered to me, in fact I am pretty sure that has been the main reason I have been able to stay on track
  • to eat a balanced nutritious diet, most of the time, and to limit my wine consumption. I know I will stray occassionally, I'm human
  • to meditate more and to improve in every area of my life - mind, body and soul.
Today is a preparation day so I doubt if I will get a workout in but I will be taking the dog up the hill so both of us can do some interval training. The dog needs it as much as me so she will be on the challenge with me

Sheddie, I think you posted your intro in scrantonicity's new journal. The journal title was a bit vague so I can see how that happened. You need to start your own journal.

Welcome scrantonicity, it will be awesome to see your transformation into a competitive bodybuilder.

Tara - welcome! Just watch the system time and get your pictures up before midnight. I'm not sure where you are, but I'm hoping you're not asleep by now....

Sheddie, as Annette mentioned, you've posted this in someone else's log. Not a big deal, just copy what you've posted and go to:

http://forums.jpfitness.com/challenge-training-logs/

And choose the 'New Thread' option at the top of the page. Then just paste your information into a log of your own. We can get a moderator to delete the oopsie post afterwards.
